Robert Down Principal's Update
January 15, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Robert H. Down School Community,
I thoroughly enjoyed having students join me for Lunch in the Garden over the course of the past week! It is truly a highlight getting to know students more personally and sharing a few moments with them over lunch.
This week, one of our 5th grade classes had an opportunity to enjoy a field trip to Potrero Canyon/Santa Lucia and our 2nd grade classes went on their annual whale watching field trip after studying and writing about different types of whales!
Believe it or not, next Tuesday, January 20, marks our 100th day of school! Time has really flown by and I invite each of you to reflect on how much each of your children have learned and grown so far this year.
Many classes are going to be doing their own 100th day of school celebrations and we also invite students to come to school with Crazy Hair to celebrate the 100th day! Our PTA is also planning to offer to style students’ hair for Crazy Hair Day before school.
Our students and staff took some time to celebrate our beloved Otterstodian, Mr. Eddie Overstreet’s birthday on Wednesday, January 14! He was showered with cards, cake, gifts, snacks, and lots of high fives and special greetings throughout the day. Thank you all for your thoughtfulness!
