Health Office Update Health Office Update

As we continue to navigate the winter months, we want to remind everyone about the importance of preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses. The health and well-being of our students, staff, and families are our top priority, and we all play a role in ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. If your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness, such as the flu or other respiratory infections, please let us know so we can take necessary precautions to protect the health of other students and staff.

Here are a few key guidelines to help reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses:

1. Stay Home When Sick: If your child is feeling unwell or showing symptoms of illness (such as a cough, fever, sore throat, or fatigue), please keep them at home to rest and recover. Consult with your child's healthcare provider for guidance if you have concerns.
2. Practice Good Hygiene:
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing, sneezing, or touching surfaces.
  • Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the elbow of your arm to prevent the spread of germs.
3. Wear Masks When Appropriate: While masks are not mandatory, we encourage their use if a student or staff member is feeling unwell or has any symptoms of respiratory illness.
4. Cleaning and Disinfection: We have increased our cleaning protocols in high-touch areas throughout the school.
5. Stay Up-to-Date on Vaccinations: We encourage families to stay current on recommended vaccinations, including the flu vaccine and Dtap and/or the Tdap booster, which protects against pertussis. If your child is due for vaccination, please contact your healthcare provider.

We appreciate your commitment to keeping our school community healthy. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the health office.

Thank you for helping to protect the health and safety of our Monomoy community.

Healthy regards,

Monomoy Health Services Team

Housing Documentary produced by MRHS students Housing Documentary produced by MRHS students

Monomoy students Stephen Kelly, MRHS Class of 2024, and Hannah Mendes, MRHS Class of 2025, produced this documentary as the culminating project of their community internships. The film focuses on the housing crisis on Cape Cod, and includes local leaders, residents, and Monomoy Middle School students sharing what home means to them. Great work on an important topic!

I have loved every second of my internship at Underpass Auto. My teacher, Mike, has been a huge help in making me successful! I have learned so many different things and different ways to approach a job that has been given to me, such as doing lower and upper control arms and engine work. It has been an amazing experience, and I cannot wait to learn more as I continue at this internship.

What I like about my internship at Cape Cod Chokers is that it allows me to be creative and hands-on. I get to make beautiful jewelry, participate in photoshoots, and brainstorm business ideas. My mentor and I have become great friends, and I look forward to working every day. I have learned so much about customer service, sales, and marketing, such as picking out the next season's clothing and jewelry pieces, working on the website, packaging online orders, and stocking inventory. This internship not only lets me express my creativity but also helps me grow professionally, and I am truly grateful for the experience.
