Message From The Principal

Dear Yeager Families,

March is a season of growth — and that is exactly what we are seeing here at Yeager Middle School.

As we move closer to the final stretch of the school year, our focus remains clear: strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and consistent support for every student. Our teachers continue working diligently to ensure students are mastering grade-level standards, strengthening their reading skills, and building the confidence they need to succeed — not just on assessments, but in life.

This month, we will continue preparing students for upcoming state assessments through intentional small group instruction, targeted support, and structured review opportunities. We are encouraging students to stay organized, attend school daily, and give their best effort in every class. Your partnership at home — monitoring grades, encouraging reading, and reinforcing positive habits — makes a tremendous difference.

March also brings exciting opportunities for student engagement, school events, and continued family involvement. At Yeager, we believe that when families and schools work together, students thrive.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. It is truly an honor to serve this incredible Mustang community.

Together, we are building confidence, strengthening achievement, and growing leaders.

With appreciation,
Tameka Bonner
Principal

March Academic Focus: Finish Strong, Stay Focused

March is a critical instructional month at Yeager Middle School. With state assessments approaching, our academic focus is centered on strengthening skills, closing gaps, and building student confidence.

Our Focus Areas This Month:

✔ Targeted Small Group Instruction
Teachers are using student data to provide focused support in reading and math. Small groups allow us to reteach standards, extend learning, and give students individualized feedback.

✔ Literacy Across All Content Areas
All teachers are emphasizing reading comprehension strategies, academic vocabulary, and written responses using text evidence. Strong literacy skills support success in every subject.

✔ Math Problem-Solving & Justification
Students are practicing multi-step problem-solving and explaining their reasoning — a key skill for mastery and assessment success.

✔ GMAS Preparation with Purpose
Our preparation is standards-based and instructionally aligned — not just test practice. We are reinforcing priority standards, reviewing key concepts, and helping students build stamina and confidence.

How Families Can Support at Home:

  • Encourage daily reading (20–30 minutes)

  • Monitor grades in Infinite Campus weekly

  • Ensure consistent attendance

  • Ask your child to explain what they are learning

  • Reinforce positive study habits and organization

March is about momentum. When students stay focused and families stay engaged, growth happens.

Together, we are finishing strong and preparing every Mustang for success.

Arriving On Time Matters

At Yeager Middle School, every minute of instruction counts.

As we move into this important academic season, consistent attendance and arriving to school on time are critical to student success. When students are absent or frequently tardy, they miss valuable instruction, small group support, and opportunities to practice key skills — especially as we prepare for upcoming state assessments.

Even missing just one or two days a month can significantly impact academic progress over time. Tardies also disrupt learning — not only for the student arriving late, but for the entire classroom.

Our Expectations:

  • Students should attend school daily unless they are ill.

  • Students should arrive on time and ready to learn.

  • Early check-outs should be limited to emergencies or essential appointments.

How Families Can Help:

  • Establish consistent morning and evening routines.

  • Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible.

  • Monitor attendance in Infinite Campus.

  • Communicate with the school if your child is experiencing attendance challenges.

Our goal is simple: Every student, every day, on time.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your child is present, prepared, and positioned for success. Attendance is not just about being at school — it’s about building habits that lead to lifelong achievement.

Science in Every Space: A Night of Learning, Laughter, and Discovery at Yeager Middle School

Yeager Middle School was buzzing with excitement as families joined us for Science in Every Space: From Kitchen Counters to Earth’s Core, an engaging Family Science Night designed to show students that science truly happens everywhere.

Students and their families explored hands-on activities across all grade levels, using everyday and recycled materials to bring science concepts to life. From modeling tectonic plate movement and extracting real DNA from strawberries to building and racing balloon-powered cars, the night was filled with curiosity, collaboration, and lots of smiles.

Families worked side-by-side with students, asking questions, making discoveries, and experiencing science in a fun, meaningful way. Laughter echoed through the halls as students proudly demonstrated their learning and parents jumped right in alongside them.

We are incredibly grateful to our families for their continued support, our teachers for their creativity and dedication, and our students for bringing so much energy and enthusiasm to the evening. Science Night was a wonderful reminder that when families and schools partner together, learning becomes even more powerful.

Thank you, Yeager families, for making this event a huge success—we loved learning with you!

Sweetheart Sneaker Ball: A Night to Remember

Yeager Middle School was filled with energy, excitement, and unforgettable memories during our annual Sweetheart Sneaker Ball!

Students arrived dressed to impress — pairing stylish attire with their favorite sneakers — creating the perfect blend of elegance and fun. The cafeteria was transformed with beautiful red and pink balloon displays, heart-themed décor, and festive lighting that set the tone for a special evening.

Throughout the night, students enjoyed:

  • Dancing with friends

  • Capturing photos at the Valentine-themed backdrop

  • Celebrating in a safe, structured environment

  • Building positive connections outside of the classroom

The joy on our students’ faces said it all. From group dance circles to sing-alongs and laughter-filled moments, the Sweetheart Sneaker Ball was more than just a dance — it was a celebration of school community and student engagement.

Events like this matter. They provide opportunities for students to develop social skills, strengthen friendships, and create lasting middle school memories. At Yeager, we are committed to fostering not only academic excellence but also positive school culture and meaningful experiences for our students.

A special thank you to our staff, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this evening a success. Your support made this event possible.

Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang.
