🟣 A Church That Listens Begins With Us 🟣 🟣 A Church That Listens Begins With Us 🟣

We are grateful to report that we have reached over 50 bishops with the campaign this year.

Many thanks to Connery McFadden (Boston, MA) for proposing and developing this idea, which is a response to his experience of attending RECongress 2025 in Anaheim, CA.

Lent is a time for the people of the church to open themselves to spiritual practices that deepen the sharing of life and faith. Through the interior and exterior disciplines of almsgiving, prayer, and fasting, we participate in the work necessary to build up the Kingdom of God.

In his inaugural homily, Pope Leo XIV said, "We are called to offer God’s love to everyone." This Lent, join Campaign for Everyoneβ€”a global effort in the spiritual disciplines of Lent to lift up the voices of the marginalized. Through letter-writing, our goal is to ask our bishopsβ€”through their prayer and workβ€”to lift up the lives of those who feel wounded or broken in their dignity. As shepherds of Christ’s church, our bishops lead the faithful to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the chief sign and symbol of God’s love for all human beings, without exception (CCC 478).

What's the Goal? What's the Goal?

We pledge to write letters to the bishops and cardinals of the world, sharing personal stories and asking them to commit to almsgiving, prayer, and fasting on behalf of those who feel exiled from the church. We are expanding our reach this year to include those outside the United States who would like to participate by writing a letter to their local bishop.

If you need help identifying your bishop or finding a mailing address, then please use this link to find Bishops and Dioceses in the United States or this link to search worldwide.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me

to bring glad tidings to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to let the oppressed go free,

and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

(Luke 4:18-19)

Who are we writing for? Who are we writing for?

We write on behalf of those who feel unheard or excluded in our church, including:

🟣 Immigrants
🟣 Unhoused persons
🟣 LGBTQIA persons
🟣 Women
🟣 Persons with physical and mental disabilities
🟣 Persons of marginalized racial and ethnic backgrounds
🟣 Anybody who has been abused, mistreated, rejected, or discriminated against

How can you participate? How can you participate?

Let’s send our church leaders messages of dignity, hope, inclusion, justice, and mercy. This Lent, let your voice be heard.

βœ‰οΈ Make a pledge.

  • Write one letter, one per week, or even one per day.

βœ‰οΈ Share your story.

  • Speak from the heart about those with whom you live, work, and serve.

βœ‰οΈ Give alms, pray, and fast.

  • Use this Lenten season to ask for a church that embraces everyone.

Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them;

otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.

When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you,

as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others.

Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.

But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing,

so that your almsgiving may be secret.

And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

(Matthew 6:1-4)
