A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Montessori Families!
We hope to see everyone Thursday and Friday at parent/teacher conferences! We encourage all families to have a connection point with teachers - ideally in person at conferences, but as we know some families take advantage of a long weekend to travel, at least by phone or email. It is important to check in on your child's progress and development!
Please remember there is no school on March 2nd. This is the last Professional Learning day for staff. When we return on March 3rd, we will be celebrating Read Across America week. See details below!
Have a great weekend!

Illness Guideline Reminders
We want to take a moment to remind Montessori families of our illness guidelines to help keep everyone in our school healthy. This time of year, illnesses such as colds, flu, and other contagious conditions tend to spread more easily, making it especially important to know when to keep your student home. By working together, we can reduce the spread of illness and ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
Children can go to school if they:
Have a mild cold, which may include a runny nose and/or cough.
Have eye drainage without fever, eye pain or eyelid redness.
Have a mild stomach ache.
Keep your child home from school if:
Fever: A temperature of 100.4°F or higher. Your child may return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and feeling better.
Vomiting/Diarrhea: Two or more episodes in the past 24 hours. Your child may return after being symptom-free for 24 hours without medication.
Severe Cold Symptoms: Persistent cough, difficulty breathing, or symptoms that disrupt normal school activities.
Full illness guidelines can be found here. If your child will be absent from school due to illness please be specific with their symptoms. To let the school know your child will be absent you can use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or call the attendance line at 414-773-3302. Remember: if you take your child to a medical provider for treatment of their illness, be sure to ask for a note excusing your child from school. Medical notes can be turned in to the office.
Read Across America Week
Celebrate Read Across America with us! Enjoy a week of themed days and plenty of reading fun! Beginning Tuesday, March 6, we’ll kick off our celebration of Read Across America with Pajama Day! Students are invited to wear their cozy pajamas and bring a small stuffed animal friend—because reading is always better with a buddy. Click on the National Education Association (NEA) Read Across America website for great book lists, reading tips, calendars, activities, and other resources to inspire readers of all levels throughout the year.
Kids Heart Challenge
Kids Heart Challenge: Current classroom leader - Ms. Yifan's class has 18 students registered! Overall, at the end of Week 3, we have 49 students registered. For every 18 students who register and complete Finn's mission, we receive an additional entry in the lottery. If every eligible student registered and completed Finn's Mission, we would have NINE entries in the $10,000 fitness equipment lottery!
Finn's Mission: THIS is our big push for our last week - complete 7 small tasks to share the message of heart health and learn about life-saving skills. Every student who completes the 7 brief modules of Finn's Mission learns important information and will be entered in a drawing for TWO 2027 SUPERBOWL TICKETS! They will also receive the Victor dog keychain and a SUPER SPECIAL green cape (no other school will have this green cape - collector's item!)
Fundraising Goal: As a secondary achievement to completing Finn's Mission, we have exceeded our goal of $1500 - we have now raised an incredible total of $1958.82! Every dollar we contribute funds research and treatment for kids with special hearts. It also generates bonuses in the form of cash and equipment for our PE program - we've currently earned at least $160 for new equipment for our PE program! Thank you for all your work!
Home Activities: If your family is looking for more heart healthy activity at home, try the NFL's Play60 videos! Email Ms. A with questions!

Girls on the Run
Dear Tosa Montessori Families,
We are excited to share that Girls on the Run will be offered again this spring for 3rd–5th grade girls!
Registration opens February 16, and if more than 15 girls are interested, a lottery will be held to determine the final team roster.
The spring season will begin the week of March 23 and end the week of May 25. We learned so much during our fall season, and we’re thrilled to build on that momentum; especially because the spring curriculum is completely different. Even if your child participated in the fall, the lessons, activities, and team experiences this spring will all be new.
One thing that won’t change is the culminating event: our Celebratory 5K on Sunday, May 31—a fun and empowering milestone for all participants.
Practice Schedule:
Tuesdays: 3:30–4:45 PM
Wednesdays: 2:30–3:45 PM
Our fall coaching team—Erin, Melissa, and Staci—is returning, and we are happy to welcome Ms. Brown, LE teacher at Tosa Montessori, to the coaching team for the spring session.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Erin at erinpeschel@gmail.com.
We can’t wait for another great season of confidence, connection, and celebration!
Girls on the Run Lottery Registration is now open! Here's the link:
Warmly,
Erin & the GOTR Coaching Team

Girls on the Run is so much more than a running program—it’s a confidence-building experience that helps girls find and use their voice. With our new curriculum, Hello, Bold Heart!, girls learn to speak up, listen deeply, and share what’s in their hearts—even when it feels scary. Give your girl (3rd-5th grade) the tools to be bold, confident, and empowered on and off the track. Registration opens February 16. Questions? Email: Erin Hochevar at erinpeschel@gmail.com
