Dress Code Guidelines
DRESS CODE
- All students are to dress properly for attendance at school and at school functions.
- Coats and hats are to be left in students’ lockers. Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Costume-type dress is not permitted unless a special day has been designated.
- Students must have some part of their shirt/top which goes over the shoulders.
- Students who are not properly dressed or their dress is deemed disruptive to the
educational process will be requested to correct their clothing. If they do not have a
change of clothes, items will be provided through the nurse’s office.
These items are not considered appropriate for school:
- Obscene or suggestive phrases or pictures on clothing.
- Overly revealing clothing, including short shorts, bare midriffs, plunging necklines (bottom of shirts should touch top of pants).
- Clothing which does not cover undergarments.
- Phrases or pictures on clothing which refer to alcohol, smoking, drugs, or provocative
brands.
- Hats, stocking caps, sunglasses, hoods.
- Clothing deemed inappropriate by school administration, school staff, district staff, or
clothing which is a threat to the order or safety of the school or students; clothing in
violation of school board policy.
At California Trail, the dress code is intended to insure that students dress tastefully and
appropriately for the school setting. We ask students to remember that clothing for
school and clothing for recreational activities may NOT be the same. School clothes
need to reflect that the child is at school to attend to the business of learning. Specific
guideline questions may be directed to the building administration.
My SAEBRS
We have recently completed our MySAEBRS screening tool. MySAEBRS is one of many tools our school district uses to ensure we have the right supports in place to meet every student’s emotional, behavioral, and social needs. Only students with signed consent during registration were given this screening tool. If you would like to know your student’s results, please contact your child’s counselor: Stephanie Beyer sbeyerct@olatheschools.org for students with last names A-K and Sue Sandbothe ssandbothect@olatheschools.org for students with last names L-Z.
Dog Dime Incentive Program Donation Page
We are excited to introduce a new way to support our school incentive program, designed to nurture the values of Caring for Ourselves, Caring for Each Other, and Caring for Our Community. This program encourages students to develop self-respect, build supportive relationships, and actively contribute to the well-being of those around them.
To make this initiative a success, we are seeking your support. Your donation will help fund a variety of activities, rewards, and resources that will inspire and motivate our students to embrace these important values in their daily lives.
By contributing to this program, you are helping to create a positive and caring environment where our students can thrive—both academically and personally. Together, we can empower them to grow into compassionate individuals who care for themselves, each other, and the world around them.

Thank you for your support and for being a vital part of our school community.
Grade Updates
Grade updates are coming! Your student(s) will be emailing you on FRIDAYS to let you know how they are doing in their classes. This will be part of their WIN time routine, and they will copy their WIN teacher on this email. It is good practice in sending emails and holding them accountable for their academic progress. You can always check Parentvue for grades as well.

Mental Health Crisis (after hours)
As a reminder, if somebody is experiencing a mental health emergency, please call the Johnson County Mental Health crisis line at 913-268-0156 (24/7 access), 988 for the national suicide crisis lifeline, or 911 for other emergencies. School staff members are not available to support a mental health crisis after school hours, during weekends, or any time students are not in school.
Tech Device Fees
Many of our assignments and textbooks are accessed through student devices that have been checked out to each student. We have talked extensively with students about how to keep their devices safe. If something were to happen to a device, families are responsible for the repair. Below you will find a breakdown of charges that could occur. Thank you for reviewing with your student.
