The 8th Grade trip to New York City will take place on May 27-29, 2026. Please register your 8th grader before the December 1 deadline. Information is below.

Hello NRMS Families,

As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to share my gratitude for being part of this incredible school community. Each day, I am reminded of the pride I have in the work our teachers and students are doing. Your commitment, curiosity, and care make NRMS a truly special place.

There will be no newsletter next week due to the holiday, but I encourage everyone to enjoy a safe, restful, and well-deserved break with family and friends.

Following Thanksgiving, we hope you will consider supporting the NRMS Education Foundation on Giving Tuesday. Your donations directly support programming and help ensure that all students can access valuable learning experiences, including overnight field trips.

A few reminders as we look ahead:

• Basketball season begins when we return. Please be sure to complete registration if your student plans to participate. Details are below.

• The end of the trimester is next week. Students should plan to submit any missing assignments on Monday to stay on track.

Wishing you all a warm and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

NOTE: 8th grade girls have the option to try out for the high school or middle school. If they would like to tryout for the high school they need to register at https://students.arbitersports.com/programs/high-school-winter-athletics-2025-2026-4 . Tryouts begin December 1, 2025.

NRMS Basketball:

Winter Sports registration opened on November 1, 2025. Winter sports are available to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This winter we will offer Boys and Girls Basketball. Registration for the winter sports season will end on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Please ensure that you complete the registration by the deadline, which is November 30th, to be eligible for the first day of tryouts on December 1, 2025.

We are excited to share with you the enrollment information for the grade 8 class trip to New York City. At the informational meeting on Wednesday, November 12th we shared how to enroll your student, and other important information regarding the trip. If for whatever reason you missed that meeting we are sharing a video recording (click here) that we encourage you to watch that explains a lot of the important information.

There are two important steps to register your student for the grade 8 NYC Trip.

Step 1: Enroll through our tour company partner Hummingbird Student Tours using this link.

It is important for you to enroll so that we can have an accurate count of the number of students that plan on attending the trip. As mentioned in the meeting please enroll even if you can't pay the initial deposit at this time. We understand that families might have financial concerns. To that end we encourage participation in the PTO wreath fundraiser (students get $8 per wreath sold credited towards their trip) and we will have other opportunities for fundraising in the future.

Please note that if we do not have enough students enrolled we will have to cancel the trip. The minimum number of students needed is 80.

Please be aware that there is trip insurance offered at an extra expense. If you are interested in that insurance please read the details carefully as there is a time frame that you need to sign up for after registering your student.
