SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello LPOSD Families!
As summer winds down, we're excited to welcome students and families back for another great year at Lake Pend Oreille School District! We hope you'll join us for our annual Open House Nights on September 1st (all secondary schools) and September 2nd (all elementary schools) to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and connect with your school community.
I'm sure you are familiar with the recent concerns surrounding the statutory grievance filed over the relocation of Lake Pend Oreille High School (LPOHS). I am happy to report the investigation is now complete and there has been no violation of state law or administrative rule. Evidence and information can be found on the website linked below. I encourage you to review those original sources for yourself.
Most importantly, I want our families to know that you can trust your District and Board of Trustees to operate with integrity and keep the best interests of students at the center of our decisions. The relocation of LPOHS is ultimately about preserving the alternative school while expanding opportunities for its students. If you have questions or concerns, I sincerely encourage you to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for the trust you place in our schools. Enjoy the final days of summer, and we look forward to partnering with you for a successful 2026–27 school year! bwm 🌻

Soft Start for New Kindergarten Students
The first two days of school (September 8-9) are used to gently ease students into their new routines. School offices will contact you to set individual time slots for your child to visit their new classroom for initial screening assessments. Our goal is to make the first week of kindergarten smooth and comfortable for every child.

NIMSEF — the North Idaho Mountain Sports Education Fund — is now accepting applications for its 2026–27 youth ski and snowboard scholarships. The program helps Bonner and Boundary County children ages 7 to 17 whose families can't afford the cost of skiing, providing a Schweitzer season pass, equipment, and eight weeks of lessons.
Since 2009, NIMSEF has helped more than 1,100 local youth — and 96 percent of donations go directly to scholarships.
Applications are open through October 1.
