Current Events
Dear Families,
We had a wonderful day with Ted Scheu the Poetry Guy on Wednesday. The children loved his playful, tender presentation, generated some wonderfully imaginative poems, and followed up with heartfelt thank you notes. He and we are hoping for a return visit next year.
Families of rising 6th graders, don’t forget the Caregiver Information Night at MUMS, Wednesday, May 20, 6:00. Memo from MUMS
KEEC: The 5th graders spent the week at Keywaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC). They did an impressive job in an environment very new to them. Once again, huge thanks to Kat, Jackson, and Mr. B for putting in many extra hours to make this possible. Kat had several 12 hour days and Jackson and Mr. B were both there for two overnight shifts and day time activities.
Port-a potty - You may have noticed we have a Port-a potty on the playground. Little League has provided this and it is primarily for their use.
Seasonal gear: This week was one we definitely needed full raingear - rainboots, hat, jacket, and pants. Please be sure your child has all of these at school.
Reminder from Silas Gorton: This year I studied hunger for a project and I was surprised by how many people are facing hunger worldwide, so I decided to host a food drive at Weybridge Elementary School, April 27th-May 29th. Please bring the items to the Weybridge Elementary School (WES) front door. In the fall we already donated 500 pounds to HOPE. Summers coming up, let's collect 1000! - Silas Gorton
Last Friday, Chris Eberly delivered 196 pounds of supplies collected at WES. We’ve collected a bit more this week, but please bring in donations if you can. Silas has set a hefty goal for us.
Lunch help: We need volunteers next week for Monday and Friday. Please sign up directly on the May/June lunch calendar or email me if you are available one of these days or for any days in the future.
We’ll need extra lunch volunteers May 22 for the Memorial Day Picnic at the Fire Station and for the Branbury Picnic (June 5/rain date June 8). Thanks so much.
Dates to put on your calendar:
Wednesday, June 3, 11:20 - Graduation Luncheon Picnic
Wednesday, June 3, 1:30 - Shakespeare Dress Rehearsal
Thursday, June 4, 6:30 - Shakespeare Performance- everyone’s invited!
