Exploring the Law and Justice Pathway at Pueblo West High School
Teen Court Program
One of the standout components of this pathway is the Teen Court Program, which offers students the chance to participate in a restorative justice initiative. Under the guidance of the Municipal Court, students take on various roles within the court system, including jurors, attorneys, and bailiffs. This hands-on experience not only helps students understand court proceedings but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement and accountability. Through the Teen Court Program, students are actively engaged in resolving real-life cases, gaining a deeper understanding of the consequences of actions and the restorative process. This experience cultivates critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills—essential tools for any career in law or public service.Thank you to the staff of the Municipal Court, Tori Martinez, and Judge Dunford for making this program possible.
For more information about the Law and Justice pathway and how to get involved, please contact Pueblo West High School’s CTE Coordinator, Tonja Odell at todell@district70.org. Join us in fostering a brighter future for our community!

Course Spotlight
IB English HL
The language A: language and literature course (English) introduces the critical study and interpretation of written and spoken texts from a wide range of literary forms and non literary text-types. The formal analysis of texts is supplemented by awareness that meaning is not fixed but can change in respect to contexts of production and consumption.
The course aims at studying the complex and dynamic nature of language and exploring both its practical and aesthetic dimensions.
Words from the instructor: “This course allows candidates a chance to appreciate literature and language through in-depth analysis, creative communication, and collaborative experiences. Rather than focusing on a survey of texts, the goal is to develop skills that allow for in-depth analysis of any and all literary works and language elements encountered.”
