Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,

I was happy to take part in the Lunar New Year celebration sponsored by the Bedford Free Public Library and the Parents Diversity Council on Saturday, January 25th, which included a Lion Dance performance explained by Sifu Tan of the Gund Kwok troupe. She shared: "The lion’s job is to drive away everything bad. Think of things you want to drive away and bring in the good.” We can all work together to help the lion as we face challenges together as a community. In this spirit, after intensive collaboration with other town officials, at their February 3rd meeting, the School Committee will consider some additional reductions to the FY26 operating budget request, while preserving our commitment to our high standard of excellence and inclusive access to educational opportunities (see below for additional information). As always, please do not hesitate to reach out directly with questions or concerns.

Happy new year!
