Dear Families,
October has arrived, and we are ready for all things fall! The weather is looking great, apples and pumpkins are arriving on teachers’ desks, and some (mildly) spooky decorations will be popping up soon. We are so lucky to get to experience the change of seasons through the eyes of our students...their excitement makes everything seem more special and memorable. 🍁 Here is some helpful information for the coming weeks:
The first Wessagusset Playground Committee meeting for the 23-24 school year will be held in-person on Tuesday, October 10th at 3:15 in the Wessagusset Library.
Here is the link to the October Lunch Menu - October Lunch
Over the next two weeks, we will be completing our fall data meetings at Wessagusset. Important information about how we use student assessment data to instruct our students can be found here: Response to Intervention at Wess
Arriving at school on time is a very important way to ensure that students start their day off in a positive way and do not miss out on morning routines and instructional time. Please help us maximize time on learning by making sure your child arrives promptly at 8:50 am. Thank you for your help with this!
Important dates to be aware of in October:
No School on Monday, October 9th- Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day
No School on Tuesday, October 10th - Professional Development
This year one of our goals is to improve our students’ reading fluency - the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression. In order to understand what they read, children must be able to read fluently whether they are reading aloud or silently Here are some quick, effective ways to work on reading fluency at home: Reading Fluency Tips
Picture Retakes will be available on Friday, November 3rd.
Looking ahead - Parent Conferences will be held on November 14th (evening) and November 15th (afternoon).
I hope you were all able to enjoy some sunshine today. We are excited to see our students tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Lindsey Frat
Tenille Brennan
