Dear Bellerive Families,

Welcome back from Spring Break! We are excited to launch into the last part of the school year with many fun events and activities. This Friday we are celebrating Abilities Awareness Day, and the PTO Auction and Trivia Night is Saturday!

Please see in the information below about Saturday's Auction and Trivia Night! There are a few seats left for trivia night, and you can still participate in the auction even if you are not able to attend the event!

Mark your calendars for Leadership Day on Thursday, April 17 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm! Leadership Day is just about a month away, and we can't wait to celebrate with you! This is one of our biggest events of the year where we shine a spotlight on our amazing student leaders.

Every Minute Counts! Our school attendance goal is 95%, but our current average for the year is 94.2%. We encourage all students to be at school on time and for the full day whenever they are well. Late arrivals and early dismissals significantly impact our attendance rate and can cause students to miss important information at the start or end of the day. Let’s work together to meet our goal and finish the year strong!

This Friday, March 28 is Abilities Awareness Day, and Bellerive students will engage in meaningful activities that celebrate and honor the diverse abilities within our school community.

In their classrooms, teachers will engage students in a variety of interactive activities that promote understanding and appreciation of all abilities. With their buddy classes, students will take part in our Commit to Inclusion event by signing their names and decorating a game piece to be displayed on our Inclusion Wall.

Specials classes will feature the following presenters—each helping to foster empathy, awareness, and inclusion through engaging, ability-focused experiences.

• Vision - Naomi Franzblau, SSD Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired
• Emotional Regulation - Patsy Schmermund, SSD ABA Facilator and Mandy Fleming, SSD Behavior Specialist
• Physical Abilities - Stations led by PE Teachers and a first-hand presentation by Lily Murray, child of a Bellerive staff member
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication - Alyson Diaz-Kleine, SSD AAC Facilitator

We are excited to welcome Alyson Gerber to Bellerive Elementary on April 2, courtesy of Novel Neighbor. She will be presenting to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

Alyson Gerber is the middle-grade author of The Liars Society series and the critically acclaimed novels Focused, Braced, and Taking Up Space. A former marketing director, Alyson earned her MFA in creative writing at The New School. She grew up in New England and now lives in New York City with her family. The second book in The Liars Society series will be released in April.

Be on the lookout for information about how to preview and bid on the auction items even if you do not attend trivia night.

This year you have two ways to order:

1. Fill out and return by April 4th the paper order form that will be sent home with your child
2. Order your Spirit Wear online at https://bellerive25.itemorder.com/

The proceeds from the sale benefit the Bellerive PTO. Please forward this to any family or friends you think would like to help support Bellerive Elementary and show their Bellerive Spirit!

The sale will only be open through April 4th, so don’t wait, order TODAY!

We will administer social-emotional surveys to students in grades 3-5 and staff as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student success. These surveys gather valuable student feedback on school safety, sense of belonging, relationships, and more.

Students will take the surveys between March 31 - April 11. They take about 15 minutes and are the same as those administered earlier this winter. They will allow us to identify areas of growth.
