Principal's Message
Dear Parents:
February is a busy month as we continue to build our House system. Last week marked the first House meetings for all students – a huge milestone! Exciting things are on the horizon, including service learning projects with OSU in February and March, and a school-wide book drive.
We're now moving into the next phases of house planning, focusing on welcoming new students, developing next year's student leadership, and adding more student-driven house activities. We know there are a lot of new experiences for our students, and we're here to support them through it all.
Speaking of support, we're incredibly proud of the amazing achievements of our middle students! Over 8500 house points have been earned this year for everything from Above the Line Responses, and student engagement, to meeting academic, attendance and behavioral standards. A huge congratulations to the 91.3% of students with no disciplinary logs during the second grading period, the 137 students with perfect attendance, and the many students who achieved honor roll status. Remember, our quarterly goals for all students are:
Earn at least a 3.0 GPA
Attend school 95% of the time or higher. (No more than two absences per grading period)
Own your R, by having zero disciplinary infractions.
Finally, a reminder that state testing is just around the corner, so please mark your calendars!
Warm regards,
Mr. Kevin L. Freeman Sr.
Principal

Substance Use Student Survey Parent/Guardian Preview & Opt-Out Info
The purpose of the Substance Use Survey is to collect information on drug, alcohol, and tobacco use among students in New Albany-Plain Local Schools. A long term goal is to monitor the trends in alcohol and drug habits in the community. Students in grades 7, 9, and 11 will be completing the anonymous survey during the survey window of February 19-21, 2025. Parents/guardians can preview the survey for grades 7 - 12.
District and building results will be shared with parents/guardians at a future Board of Education meeting and through the building newsletters. Parents/guardians may opt their student(s) out of the survey by completing this opt-out form by February 14, 2025.
