Week of Feb 24
MISSION
Lindblom Math & Science Academy is an inclusive, challenging, and supportive community that empowers students to become compassionate leaders who understand, engage, and impact the world.
VISION
Lindblom Math & Science Academy will empower every student to excel academically, grow personally, and thrive as engaged citizens in an ever-changing world.
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
As we celebrate Black History Month this February, Lindblom proudly recognizes and honors the incredible legacy of the founders of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)! It's especially meaningful to us because FIVE of these visionary men are Lindblom Math & Science Academy alumni (SW71P)! Their immeasurable impact on the world of engineering and their dedication to increasing the number of Black engineers is truly inspiring. NSBE's mission to empower Black engineers and uplift communities resonates deeply with our own values here at Lindblom. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and contributions.
We've had a busy and productive few weeks here at Lindblom MSA. We're thrilled to report that 92% of our students successfully selected six or more tentative courses for the 2025-2026 school year (SY26)! We're also pleased to have resolved the technical issues some students experienced during the process, with 96% of students selecting five or more tentative classes. Starting this week and continuing through mid-March, counselors will be holding individual programming meetings with students to finalize their course selections. Please ensure your student checks their email and attends their scheduled appointment.
Finally, a huge thank you to our students, parents, staff, and administration for their collaborative efforts in bringing our inaugural Taste of the Diaspora to life! The event was a resounding success thanks to everyone's contributions
Onward and upward,
~Principal Banks

CIEE Deadlines
Students have to confirm their enrollment by Thursday, February 27th to secure their spot. CIEE’s summer programs offer valuable academic and cultural experiences that will have a lasting impact, no matter the location.
CIEE Enrollment Coordinators will be reaching out to accepted students and their families to guide them through the next steps.
Still Thinking About Applying? There's Still Time!
If you haven’t applied yet, you still have the chance to do so! The final deadline to apply for a Global Navigator Scholarship is February 26th. Even if you don’t receive a scholarship, applications for CIEE programs will remain open through the spring until site enrollments close in April or May.

BE EMPOWERED
Hello Lindblom families,
Over the weekend, you all received a report of your graduation requirements denoting the ones that have been completed. There have been two common questions/concerns that have been shared and we hope to answer them here.
- Pass a middle school Algebra class with a C or better
- Pass the 8th grade Algebra Exit Exam
Computer Science Credit
Students who have taken both Introduction to Engineering and Principles of Engineering (Engineering I and II), will earn a Computer Science waiver. This waiver will satisfy the Computer Science requirement, but will not be denoted on a student's transcript until the end of their 11th-grade year. This is a district policy that we do not have local control over.
Make Space in the Library
Lindblom was awarded the Make Space in the library pilot. Make Space at the Library is a partnership project of the Art Institute of Chicago and Chicago Public School Libraries that establishes a space for student-led artmaking and exploration inspired by the Art Institute’s global collection of art within select high school libraries. Make Space at the Library is a place-based artmaking experience led by librarians. Check out the artwork made by students in Mr. Brannigan's AP Art History class on display in the library. Reach out to Ms. Confer, mopysson@cps.edu, to schedule the project in one of your classes.
BE LEADERS
Teachers and published authors, Ms. Gunn and Mr. Talley, discussed the writing and publishing process with students during flex B on February 12.

ALSC Student Elections
Our student election occured on Feb 13 and all ballots were tallied to determine our SY25-26 ALSC Student Representative. While we wish more students would have participated in the voting process, the votes clearly reveal our SY25-26 student ALSC representative. The 'summary of results' is reflected below. Congratulations, Yatzari!
