UPDATE: Parent Teacher Interview Dates
Our Division has approved a change to the school calendar regarding Parent-Teacher Interviews this fall. Interviews will now take place on Wednesday, November 26 and Thursday, November 27 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. As is our practice, parents will be able to choose between an in person or phone interview. We will be sending the link for parents to sign up for these new dates in the coming weeks.
Friday, November 7 will remain a day in lieu (no school for students) and Friday, November 28 will remain a PD Day (no school for students).
This adjustment was made in response to the recent teachers’ strike and after thoughtful consultation with school administrators, staff, and the Board of Trustees. The change allows teachers more time to reconnect with students and families, better understand each child’s learning progress, and prepare for meaningful interview conversations.
Staff also shared that these new dates reduce scheduling conflicts and allow for valuable professional development time to support student learning.
We appreciate our families’ understanding and flexibility as we work together to support a smooth and successful return to learning for all.
Gaga Ball Fun on the Playground!
Our playground just got even more exciting! Thanks to a generous donation from one of our community partners, along with funds originally raised for our playground, two brand-new Gaga pits have been professionally manufactured and installed — complete with FallSAFE Pour-In-Place Rubber Surfacing for extra safety and season-long enjoyment.
The excitement has been contagious as students jump in to play during recess and gym time. To help everyone enjoy the game safely and fairly, one pit has been designated for our older students and the other for our younger students.
This week, students learned how to play Gaga and practiced the rules of the game in their gym classes. Students have been doing awesome playing fairly and having a blast!
Weather Reminders:
Although we have been enjoying beautiful fall weather, our mornings are turning cooler! We know it is important for children to get outside for fresh air, to play, and to expend energy during the school day. It is necessary that you ensure your children are dressed appropriately each day as they usually go outside. With the cooler weather, jackets, mitts, and toques are now needed. Please ensure to label your child's items.
Please note as well that our threshold for students to remain indoors during recess has changed from -20 to -25 degrees. This is to ensure compliance with our division's new Administrative Procedure for Inclement Weather & Outdoor Air Quality. Please check out our website for our full Inclement Weather Procedures.
Growing Smiles Poinsettia and Winter Arrangements Fundraiser
Every year we sell beautiful poinsettias and greenery arrangements grown by DeVry greenhouses ltd. They are a very good quality product and make a great gift! This year we are offering red and white poinsettias in 6.5” pots, as well as wreaths, holiday planters and outdoor greenery arrangements.
Orders are due Friday, November 21. Pickup dates will be December 10 (12:00-4:00 pm) and December 11 (8:00am-4:00pm) at the school provided there are no delays with deliveries due to weather, etc.
Due to the quick turnaround, we will not be doing paper orders this year. Please share the following website with your friends and family and they can order and pay online. https://ladyofrosaryschool.growingsmilesfundraising.com/
The funds will go towards new classroom centers, field trips and materials for the students to enjoy this year and in the future. Thanks again for supporting our Kindergarten fundraiser.
Schoology to PowerTeacher Pro: You Spoke ... We Listened!
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, our school has transitioned from Schoology to PowerTeacher Pro for student reporting. Teachers are currently learning the new platform and preparing to enter assessment information.
Instructions for parents on how to log in and access PowerTeacher Pro will be shared in next week’s Week at a Glance.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and support as our staff navigates this change. We believe that PowerTeacher Pro will better meet the needs of our school community and enhance communication about student learning — a shift guided by valuable feedback from our families and stakeholders.
The AGM was held and our new executive was elected. Congratulations!
