OBOB.....and the winners are The Circuit Breakers!
Woot Woot! We had 12 teams, which is about 60 Yolanda students, participate in Oregon Battle of the Books this year! The final battle was held Wednesday, February 25th in our gym. The Circuit Breakers will be participating in the Regional event Saturday, March 14th at Thurston High School.
So many of our staff volunteer to coach teams as they love to foster the love of reading and encourage students to be part of a team. HUGE shout out to Mrs. Zsiga our ELD teacher who set up the finals and Mrs. Andrea, Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Paschall for hosting some battles! Your extra time was greatly appreciated.
Thanks to our coaches and students for doing your best to tackle the books!

Parking next to the fence and walking path on 23rd
Just a reminder to all those picking up and dropping off students through our parking lot. Please park in designated spaces. Parking in the second row across the white stripes isn't a designated space. Those folks using the handicap parking spots need that space to back-up to leave those first few spots.
Parking along the fence line on 23rd in front of the no parking signs is also not a space to park. This is County land. The walking path along the fence line needs to be a safe space for students and families to walk. Having mud flung on students and families or inhaling exhaust as cars & trucks are trying to get out of the wet grass is becoming very problematic for our walkers and is tearing up the strip of County land.
I know our parking lot is on the smaller side, perhaps park at the dance studio or wait a few extra minutes and pull through the drive through line to pick up your student/s.
I have had neighbors, parents and community members come and share their concerns as this continues to be problematic. Please problem solve this differently if you are parking along our fence line on 23rd so our kids and families can continue to feel safe using the walking path on their way to and from school.
PTO Updates
Thank you to all our of our families who participated during our VIP Dance and Book Fair during February! The turn out for both events was fantastic and there were LOTS of happy students and happy families. The VIP Dance volunteers did an amazing job creating a fun space with great beats!
The Book Fair held this week was very well attended. We raised about $2,300 for our library. Mrs. Hanson will be happily purchasing new book for circulation.
These event are hosted by our PTO board and couldn't happen without the support of many volunteers. Our Yolanda community is very blessed to have such a caring and supporting team of volunteers.
THANK YOU to you all and our Cougar Crew that continue to show up weekly for our supervision times!
Lost & Found
WOWZA...... we have A LOT of coats & sweatshirts and various other items over flowing in our Lost & Found bin in front of the gym. PLEASE come and look through the mountain of clothes for items that belong to your student/s. These items will soon be donated at the end of March.
You can come anytime on the weekends, anytime after 3:45 Mon-Fri.
