Eastside Elementary
September 2026
Dear Eastside Families,
What a tremendous start we have had to the 2026–2027 school year!
As we move into September, I continue to be encouraged by what I see throughout Eastside each day. Our classrooms are full of learning, relationships are taking shape, routines are becoming established, and—most importantly—our students are beginning to understand that Eastside is their school and they belong here.
During the opening weeks of school, our staff have been intentional about building that foundation. We have spent time creating strong classroom communities, developing relationships and rapport, explicitly teaching expectations, and helping students understand what it means to SOAR through Safety, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.
Now, as we enter September, we begin building on that foundation.
The learning is gaining momentum. Students are reading, writing, discussing, creating, collaborating, solving problems, and engaging in meaningful experiences throughout the building. Our goal is not simply to have students complete schoolwork; we want them thinking, participating, growing, and becoming increasingly responsible for their own learning.
At the same time, one of the things that makes Eastside special is that school is about more than what happens inside a classroom. It is about community. We want our students to know that they are surrounded by adults—both at school and at home—who care about them, believe in them, and are working together to help them succeed.
That is why I especially want to invite our families to become involved with Eastside this September.
Our Parent Teacher Kid Organization (PTK) will hold its next meeting on September 10. I would like to cordially invite all Eastside parents and guardians to attend. PTK is an important partner in so many of the experiences, celebrations, and opportunities we are able to provide for our students. You do not need to hold an official position or make a major time commitment to participate. Simply showing up, sharing ideas, lending a hand when you can, and being part of the conversation makes a difference.
Later in the month, our PTK will also host one of my favorite Eastside traditions: Morning Muffins on Friday, September 25, from 7:30–8:00 a.m. in the gym. Families and friends are invited to join us for a relaxed morning together before the school day begins.
Events like Morning Muffins may seem simple, but they represent something important: strong schools are built when students, families, and staff know one another and enjoy being together. Those relationships help create the sense of belonging and community that we want every child to experience at Eastside.
Thank you for the tremendous support you have already shown our school this year. Thank you for trusting us with your children, reinforcing our expectations at home, communicating with our staff, attending events, volunteering, and partnering with us.
We have a great year ahead of us.
WE SOAR TOGETHER!
