The football played their last game on Friday against Ankeny Centennial. The result was not what the stars wanted, but their season is not represented by wins and losses. The stars were riddled with injuries this year, but they found a way to adapt, showing their poise and resilience. Once again, the seniors' leadership this year does not go unnoticed and will be used as a building block for years to come. The stars look to rebuild this year and come back better than ever.

The freshman team also dropped their last game to Ankeny Centennial. The freshman finished their season with three wins and look to make a difference next year in both the Junior Varsity and Varsity squads.

On Wednesday, October 22nd, the North High Cross Country team competed at the district meet in Council Bluffs, and the result was an outstanding performance by both the girls’ and boys’ teams! The boys were led by top-ranked Kuma Gutema who cruised to yet another victory, declaring him the district champion. Following Gutema was senior Ben Hames who punched his ticket to the state meet by taking the 17th spot. Lastly, senior Even Tesfaselassie claimed 20th and stole the very last state qualifying spot. Congrats to the three state qualifiers!

On the girls side, senior Marcella Palmer finally broke through the threshold and has solidified herself as a state qualifier. Marcella meticulously cut through the pack and patiently worked her way up to steal the 17th spot and declaring herself a state qualifier.

Although the stars had a great day walking out with 4 state qualifiers, the leadership from the seniors is not something that can be overlooked. Seniors Hanna Johnson, Maria Gutierrez, Arcenia Burrack, and Torrey Swaggerty-Morgan have all been a vital piece of the puzzle that has led to North's success. We are grateful for your leadership and wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Kuma, Ben, Evan, and Marcella all run at the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday, November 1st. Good luck stars!

Picture of Ben Hames in the, "Meet the Star" segment in which he says, "“It feels quite amazing to earn a spot at state as it was something I had to work quite hard for. After 4 years of hard work and dedication, I finally get to enjoy what its like to run at State.”

North Battles Back After Early Deficit, Falls in Fourth North Battles Back After Early Deficit, Falls in Fourth

The North High volleyball team ended their season on Thursday. The stars ultimately dropped the match, but showed resilience by a late surge to almost complete the comeback win. Down 2-0, the stars won the third set and then ultimately lost in the fourth set but just 1-point. Despite the star's loss, this season was a big step in the right direction for the program as a whole. The seniors helped to lay a strong foundation that will be built upon for years to come.

Thank you for the senior leadership this year!
