Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central & South America.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide through festivals, art shows, community gatherings, and much more. The month also celebrates the independence days of several Latin American countries, including: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua on September 15th, Mexico on September 16th, and Chile on September 18th.

In November, Leyden will be hosting 20 students from Begues, Spain (just outside Barcelona). Students who host these visitors will then get the opportunity to travel to Spain and stay with their exchange partner over Spring Break. While there, students will visit: La Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, La Pedrera, la Plaza de Cataluña, Sitges (a small beach community), among other sites.
