Principal's Report

Prom week is always an exciting one. 10 of our students attended this year’s events. Please enjoy the pictures.

Mr. Smith finished building our brand-new picnic table. A big thank you to him for such a nice improvement to our outdoor space. Thanks also to the EHT Ed Foundation for the grant that allowed the project to take place.

Mr. Langhurst held the annual Egg-Drop contest. This has become an annual design-build project. The results: mixed! 4 survived the fall and 4 didn’t.

The Great Egg Drop!

Every year, Eagle scientists carefully wrap raw eggs in their homemade protective devices and hold their breath as they are dropped from the top of Eagle's fire escape. This year, about 50% of the eggs survived the fall.

Improving Eagle's Outdoor Classroom Space

Eagle Academy has always been a place where students build their own classrooms. This year, students continue that tradition by improving the outdoor classroom space. Students used tools purchased with Atlanticare Garden Grants last year, and wood purchased with grant funding from the Egg Harbor Township Education Foundation.

Last week, students started by building sawhorses to work on, then cut and assembled a large garden container with seating around its edge. It will provide a space to sit and study, as well as a garden for growing herbs and vegetables. Students also began working on another picnic table to match the ones they built last year.

In the past week, the students finished the picnic table and placed it under the large shade tree in front of the school, providing an inviting spot to study or relax during the sunny school days.

This project would not have happened without the tireless effort of Mr. Greg Smith. Mr. Smith wrote the grant to receive the funds for the project, designed and coordinated the building with students, many who have never held a tool in their hands before. Well done!

Another Week of Beautiful Weather

Eagle students spent plenty of time outside this week, enjoying the first sunny days of June! Some students even tried volleyball for the first time.
