Week 7 at The Hive

Hubbard Families,

We are officially heading into Week 7, and I want to thank you for the continued partnership you show our school each day. Our students are learning, growing, and building the habits they need to be successful and that work happens because school and families work together.

As we move forward, our focus remains simple: Whatever It Takes. We are committed to providing our students with strong instruction, high expectations, encouragement, and the support they need to grow academically and personally.

Please continue to:

  • Make sure your child attends school every day and arrives on time.

  • Ask your child about what they are learning—not just what they did at school.

  • Read with your child and encourage them to practice their math skills at home.

  • Stay connected with your child's teacher and reach out when you have questions or concerns.

We are seeing some wonderful things happening across our classrooms, and I am proud of the effort our students and teachers are putting in each day. Every day matters. Every lesson matters. Every child matters.

Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being an important part of the Hubbard family.

Let's have a great Week 7!

P.S. Your input matters!! Please take the poll at the bottom of the newsletter!

Mrs. Turner, Assistant Principal

Dear Hubbard Families,

Thank you for your support as we continue to smooth out our bus issues and process. Your patience and support matter greatly. Please don't forget that buses can arrive 15 minutes before or after the scheduled time. Be reminded that a parent or adult also should be at the stop when students arrive in the afternoon. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

📌Attendance

Our attendance policy has been updated and is being strictly enforced, so accuracy matters. Please make sure you child is at school on time. Checking in late and checking out early adds up to lost instruction.

Attendance Policy & Make Up Work Policy--MUST READ

📌Arrival & Dismissal

Parent drop-off begins at 7:20 a.m. All parents must use the car line until 8:00 a.m. Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m., and we ask that all students be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.

📌Carline and Pick Up Reminders

Safety is our highest priority at Hubbard! Please do not drop students off in the front bus area. Cars entering and leaving the front drive and parking lot while students are unloading creates a significant safety hazard.

Additionally, please do not leave students in the car line if there are no adults present to receive them.

How grandparents can support grandkids in school:

  • School supply shopping can be a fun and exciting time for kids but also very overwhelming for parents.
  • Help with school work:
  • Staying in sync with parents
  • Creating a positive environment
  • Praise progress over perfection
  • Read with your grandchild at least 15 minutes a day

Literacy at Home📖

🐝In order to provide continuing support for North Carolina’s youngest readers, The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Office of Early Learning has developed and released “Literacy at Home.”

Literacy at Home - Free Resources

This digital resource provides literacy activities at each grade level, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Families and communities may access this resource for activities that specifically target the literacy skills of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and oral language. When children grow in each of these foundational areas they are well on their way to becoming proficient readers.
