Antrim Elementary School - January 12, 2024
Principal Corner
Hello AES families,
If you have not had a change to submit your RSVP form to the Cooks and Books event, please do so as soon as possible so we know how many people will be coming.
We are preparing for the Title I sponsored Community Engagement Night Cooks and Books on Wednesday, January 24th, 5:30 - 7:00. Where we will share a meal together that the students cook. All of the recipes will be based on the books they are reading together in class. In the newsletter below you will find a link to the RSVP form. Please let us know if you are coming to the event.
Everyone should have received the paperwork from the AES PTO for the Hillside Pizza Fundraiser. If you still need sheets, please contact the main office. Students need to turn in all forms by January 22nd. Sell those pizzas!
Dinner and a movie? That sounds great! Come to the Conval High School, on January 30th, to celebrate learning differences. Our students at AES have been helping to prepare for the event by making placemats for the dinner. This event is free and open to all of the surrounding communities. There is a flyer below containing all of the event details.
A math club, Crazy 8s, is coming to AES! The PTO will be sponsoring this 8 week program, Wednesday after noons from 3:30 - 4:30, beginning February 21st. This club is free! All students K-4 are welcome to attend free of charge. There will be two separate multi-age groups with different activities each week, grades K-2 and 3-4. Sign up sheets are attached to this newsletter below and will be sent home in hard copy from classroom teachers.
Thank you to Dr. Steve Ullman, member of the Antrim Lions Club, for coming to AES this week to talk with me about ideas for partnering further with members of the Lions. We look forward to announcing new programs and enrichment activities in partnership with the Lions
in the coming weeks!
Be well,
Beth

Note from Ms Gregg, School Counselor
Happy New Year! Recent kindergarten, first grade, second grade and third grade classroom counseling lessons have focused on empathy and kindness. Fourth graders have been learning about the importance of understanding different points of view and the fact that different people have different perspectives. Lessons generally begin with a brief “brain builder” activity designed to help students strengthen their skills of observation, focusing, remembering, following directions, and waiting/patience.
