Stay the course

I am proud of our students at Jasper Junior High School and the progress they continue to make. Each time they persevere through a challenge, take ownership of their learning, or show kindness to someone else, they help shape the direction of our school. Our purpose is to help every student recognize their potential and understand how today’s choices connect to tomorrow’s opportunities.

Along the way, we encourage students to stay focused on their goals and avoid distractions that can pull them off course. Choosing positive influences, using time wisely, and asking for guidance can help them keep moving in the right direction. With clear goals, consistent support, and a strong partnership between home and school, we can help our students move forward with confidence and purpose.

Go Vikes!

Support

We are incredibly thankful for the strong community partnerships that help make our school a special place for students and teachers. We often have community members ask, “How can I help?” and we are always grateful for the willingness of others to support our Vikings!

We have worked hard to keep our school supply lists and athletic fees as minimal as possible for families. Teachers in Alabama are fortunate to receive state funding each year to help cover instructional needs in their classrooms. However, there are some everyday classroom essentials that cannot be purchased with those funds.

Items such as Clorox wipes, Kleenex, and paper towels are always needed and appreciated by our teachers. The next time you are at the grocery store or shopping, if you would like to pick up one of these items to donate, our teachers would be incredibly thankful!

It may seem like a small gesture, but these simple acts of kindness make a big difference in our classrooms. Thank you for continuing to invest in our students, support our teachers, and make Jasper Junior High School a place where our Vikings can thrive. We are grateful to be part of such a supportive community. Once a Viking, always a Viking!

Mrs. McLain

7th Life Science

Hi! I am Mrs. McLain. I am a 7th grade science teacher, and here are a few things about me! I am a wife and a proud mom who loves spending time with my family. Most of my time outside of school is spent cheering on my children and being involved in all of their activities. I wouldn’t trade those busy days for anything! I love making memories with my family, spending time with friends, and enjoying the little things in life. My faith and family are very important to me. I enjoy laughing, having fun, and making the most of every moment. Teaching middle school keeps life interesting, and I love building relationships with my students and watching them grow throughout the year!

Mrs. Brown

7th Life Science

Hi! I’m Wendi Brown, and I teach 7th grade Life Science. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s in Secondary Education. I enjoy sharing my love of science and encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of the natural world. When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending quality time with my family and pets, getting together with friends, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide! I also enjoy spending time outdoors and appreciating all that nature has to offer. Roll Tide!

Mr. Woodard (Department Head)

8th Physical Science

Hi, I’m Mr. Woodard, I graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in General Science along with a master's degree from the University of North Alabama in Instructional Technology and Design. When I am not in the classroom or on your TikTok for you page, I enjoy reading science fiction/fantasy novels; currently working my way through the Dungeon Crawler Carl series! My all-time favorite television show is Survivor, and it is my dream that you will see me on that island in Fiji. I also am a collector of vintage furniture pieces— so you might find me in an antique store every now and again!

Mr. Roye

8th Physical Science

Hey, I’m Coach Roye, I graduated from the University of West Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in general science education. I graduated alongside Mr. Woodard, Mr. Franks, and Mr. Ochs with a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Design from the University of North Alabama. When I’m not at school, I am more than likely spending time with my wife and two kids, coaching football, fly fishing, reading about fly fishing, talking to people about fly fishing, and reading up on different places to fly fish. Did I mention I like to go fly fishing? I also enjoy studying the Bible, hunting, being outdoors in general, and piddling around on the guitar.
