What was the best advice you received in your first year of administration?
Seek to understand by being an active listener. As a first-year administrator you want to begin to build a rapport with your staff, students and community. Understanding their perspective on what makes your school great and areas for growth. Gaining this knowledge will be key when making decisions and having a vision for what matters most to your stakeholders.
What advice would you give to a first-year administrator?
This job is like a roller coaster. You will have many ups and downs. Find a colleague or mentor that you trust, so you can problem solve together or someone who you can hang-out with for a TGIF. Do not be on an island by yourself.
If you did a Ted Talk, what would the topic be?
You may not be able to control what happens to you or your building, but you can control your attitude. Be the positive up-lifting leader that ignites the staff and students.
A movie is being made about your life...who is playing you?
Melissa McCarthy
What restaurant do you recommend to someone visiting your town?

What's been a highlight of the year for you?
Our FastBridge screening results as a district have shown great growth and a lot of that has been contributed to our MTSS model with supports and tier intervention from elementary to secondary.
