A Message from Mrs. Belcher:
Stewart families,
We couldn't be more excited to welcome our Mustangs into this building this coming week! Our staff has been working on every last detail to make the first day of a school the best for our students! This year, our campus theme will be Fueled for Excellence. We will carry this over into the classroom through goal setting, character traits, and more. Be on the look out for exciting things to come!
This Monday, August 11, is Meet the Teacher Night from 4:30-5:15 (A-L) and 5:15-6:00 (M-Z). There are several important forms all students need to have completed prior to this event. Please read below for these important updates/reminders.
- All returning students must complete their online enrollment verification through Power School. Parents should have received an email with your child's unique code to complete this process. The email will be from noreplyenrollment@powerschool.com. If you do not have the email, please check your junk folder. It is important to complete this process yearly to ensure your child is completely registered and all of their information is up to date. Should you have any questions, please contact our campus registrar at kscambray@conroeisd.net.
- New this year, our campus must obtain parent permission before providing any health related services to students. This is a requirement of the passing of Senate Bill 12. Without consent, only life-saving care can be provided. When updating your child's online enrollment verification there is an "opt-in" option should you choose to allow your child to receive health related services provided by campus staff including, but not limited to, temperature checks, band-aids, ice packs, vision/hearing screeners, assessing pulse, etc. If you choose not to "opt-in" your child will only be allowed to receive life-saving care. Should you have any questions, please contact our school nurse at jlegendre@conroeisd.net.
- All students should have this transportation SURVEY completed. Please submit this form once per student attending Stewart. This will help us prepare for dismissal for the start of school.
Please continue to read the Stampede each week for updates and information throughout the school year. Below you will find important information regarding attendance, electronic policy, dress code, safety, dates, and more.
See you Monday!
Kristen Belcher, Principal

Student Health Information: Important
The 89th Texas Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 12 which requires school districts to obtain consent from a parent/guardian before providing health-related services to that individual’s child. Only life-saving care can be given at school without the consent provided in this document by the child’s parent/guardian. School health-related services are most often provided by the school nurse. However, additional school staff may also provide first-aid and care of ill or injured students. This would include teachers, administrators, counselors, clinic assistants or other staff charged with supervising children.
Health-related services in the school setting may include:
- General First Aid
- Nursing Assessment and/or care of symptoms of illness or injury while at school.
The following are examples and not all inclusive:
- Temperature check
- Band-Aid/Ice Pack
- Assessing pulse
- Measuring blood pressure
- Listening to breathing or heart sounds
- Examining pupil responsiveness
- Medication Administration
- Vision Screening
- Hearing Screening
- Spinal Screening
Please ensure you have completed your child's online verification of student registration. You will be required to "opt-in" if you wish for your child to receive health services such as listed above.

Grade Level Updates: 2nd, 5th, 6th
Our second grade will be departmentalized this coming school year. This means most students will have two teachers; one teacher will teach Math, Science, Social Studies, and the other teacher will teach Reading and Writing. Since our second grade team has an uneven amount of classes, one teacher will be self-contained and will teach all subject areas. Parents will be receiving an email on August 8th stating their child's teacher/s.
Our fifth and sixth grade students will each have three teachers. Students will be in one of two trio teacher rotations. Students will intermix each class change between the three classes and will not rotate through the three teachers as a homeroom. This will allow teachers to better differentiate instruction and will also allow students time to work with various students in their teacher trio. Parents will receive an email on August 8th stating their homeroom and trio teacher group.
All parents grades K-6 will receive an email from their child's teacher Friday, August 8th after 4:00 p.m.

Stewart Dresscode:
As you begin back to school clothes shopping, please keep the dress code below in mind. Students must abide by the dress code at all times.
Dress Code:
Dress codes are established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruptions, minimize safety hazards, and to maintain a positive learning environment. The District prohibits pictures, emblems, or writings on clothing that are any of the following: lewd, violent, suggestive, offensive, vulgar or obscene, or advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other substance prohibited under FNCF (LEGAL).
- Shorts, dresses, and skirts must be mid-thigh length. Some popular athletic wear does not meet this requirement.
- Students should be able to raise their arms without the midriff showing.
- Tank tops must be the width of three fingers.
- Halter tops, muscle shirts, and spaghetti strap tops are not permitted unless covered by another shirt.
- Jeans with rips or holes may be worn if the holes are below mid-thigh or covered with a patch.

A school consequence may be assigned.
