Wiggin Street Parent Update
June 18, 2026
Welcome to Wiggin Street Kindergarten!
Better Together
Dear Families,
Welcome to Wiggin Street! We are so excited to welcome you to our school community and hope this update finds you well. We look forward to meeting all of our new Wiggin Street Kids! Our Back to School Open House is scheduled for Monday, August 17th from 5:30-7:30 pm.
You should have received this message via text and/or email through Instant Connect. If not, click here to create an Instant Connect account. You can also find helpful information on our school website, and if you still have questions, feel free to email me at cgrandstaff@mvcsd.us.
If your child has not attended any kindergarten screening yet, please call the district office 740-397-7422 to schedule a screening appointment at Twin Oak Elementary on August 4th which is an MVCSD Kindergarten screening make-up day.
Also, make sure you have completed all enrollment forms online including required documents on the Power School Enrollment.
Our Summer Reading Program is off to a great start! It is optional for Kindergarten students this year. All kindergarteners will receive a snow cone and participate in some non-water activities. If you would like your child to participate in the summer reading program, they can complete the first grade reading log. There’s still plenty of time to “Get Soaked in Books.” Students who meet the reading goal will be invited to an afternoon of Fun Water Games!
Here’s how it works:
-
Use the summer reading log (linked below and available on our website).
-
Track the books or pages your child reads.
-
Reading should be at your child’s independent level, but reading together also counts!
-
Please initial your child’s reading to validate progress.
-
Submit the completed log to school by August 21, 2026 to participate in the water games.
-
We’d love to see your child reading this summer—email a summer reading photo to hwaugh@mvcsd.us!
More information and links to reading logs can be found below and on our website. Don’t forget to take some time to relax in the sun with a great book!
This update is also filled with important information to help your family start the school year off right. Thank you for trusting us with your children each day. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we are Better Together, and I look forward to seeing all of you at Open House!
Have a wonderful rest of your summer!
Warmly,
Christy Grandstaff
