Mr Harper's TOP 5

  1. Parents and students we are seeing a rise in inappropriate use of Fragrances and Perfumes. Please be mindful of spraying these in our hallways as they may cause problems for many of our student and staff members with allergies and asthma.
  2. We also need to be making sure we are properly disposing of gum and food items.
  3. Homework Club if you or your student are struggling and falling behind please talk to a teacher about scheduling some morning HW Club time in D 105 starting at 7:30 AM (T,W,TH).
  4. Get involved- there are many new clubs and activities for our students on campus. Research shows students that are involved in extra curricular activities have a greater chance at academic success.
  5. Please remember students need their ID at all Allen ISD events.

Counselor's Corner Counselor's Corner

Hello Husky Families! As always, we are here to support you and your student. If you notice that your child is struggling socially, emotionally, or having a hard time adjusting to all things middle school, please reach out to their counselor. Counselor emails are on the front page of the Ereckson website. You can also call the school and ask to be transferred to your student's counselor.

Guidance: For our September guidance, school counselors are working to teach students how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. Allen ISD Counselors are using a program purchased by Allen ISD called SOS or Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help.

We encourage you to visit www.mindwise.org/parents for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn during this state mandated guidance lesson.

September 9-13 is College and Career Week! Students will begin the process of thinking about their future with a dive into the Middle School and High School Academic Planning Guides as well as identifying their own personal interests for future endeavors.

Come join 8th grade parents across the district at Lowery Freshman Center to learn about personal graduation plans. The evening will start off with counselors providing an overview of high school graduation requirements and what a personal graduation plan is in the auditorium (5:30-6:15). For parents who would like a hands-on experience or have more questions are welcomed to join us in the Lowery cafeteria after the presentation to create your own personal graduation plan (6:15-7pm).

Attendance Reminder

Documenting Student Absences

Use one of these options to document a student’s absence:

  • Log into SKYWARD, click on the “Attendance” tab, click on “submit an Absence Request” and then complete the request. No further documentation or phone call is required. This is our preferred method.
  • Call the Attendance Clerk at 972-747-3308 x244160. Please have your student’s ID number available.
  • Parent/guardian notes must have a parent/guardian signature and include your student’s ID number. These can be dropped off at the school or scanned (JPEG or PDF) and emailed to william.lazarus@allenisd.org.

A couple of reminders:

  • Absence notes must be received within three days of the student’s return to school. Otherwise, the absence will remain as unexcused. Truancy notifications will be sent when the student has 3 or more unexcused absences (full or partial days).
  • A medical note is required for students who miss more than five consecutive days of school.
  • Absence requests for Religious Holy Days must include the name of the holy day.

If you have any questions, please contact Bill Lazarus at 972-747-3308 x 244160 or email william.lazarus@allenisd.org.
