SCHOOL INFORMATION
News from Mrs. Whisnand's Climate Justice Class
If you are someone who enjoys making art then maybe you would be interested in creating an illustration that represents the beauty of Oregon's nature. The Franklin High School Climate Justice class is working to develop a mural design to paint within the school. If your design wins then you could earn $50 and leave a lasting impression on your school. Submissions can be made here!
AP Research Survey Seeking Community Responses
You have been invited to participate in a survey about housing development in Portland. The information is completely confidential and cannot be traced back to you. It should only take about five minutes to complete.
This information will be used in a paper for AP Research, a high-school level course designed to mimic the process of creating a college-level research paper. Thank you for your participation!
Middle School Dance Camp
Dance at Franklin has two upcoming inservice day camps (1/27 and 4/3) for middle school students who are interested in getting a taste of the dance department at FHS. All camp attendees will be invited to join free weekly rehearsals as members of our Junior Company, and perform in Arts Alive alongside current Dance at Franklin students. Learn more at www.danceatfranklin.com/camps or see the flyer above for more information.
Immunization Reminder from Nurse Katie
This is a friendly reminder that vaccines (or signed exemptions) are required for your student to be in school! Exclusion date is Wednesday, February 25th, 2026. Winter break is coming up and that is a great time to call your students' doctors and get them in for a visit if they are due. Our Student Based Health Center is a great resource as well. I will be reaching out in the next couple of weeks to families who are in need of immunizations. Feel free to reach out to me (ksimeon@pps.net) if you have any questions or concerns!
SENIOR CORNER
Senior Portraits for the Yearbook
Senior Portraits are due on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14th!
Submitting a portrait is optional. If a portrait is not submitted then we will use the photo taken at registration. If you did not take a photo at registration then we will not have a photo for you. Use this form also to submit a portrait and/or a senior quote. You can submit just a quote or just a photo or submit both.
Please read the photo and quote requirements closely in the Google Form.
Commencement Ticket Survey
PPS is excited to announce that this year’s graduation ceremonies will be held at Portland State University’s Viking Pavilion! This venue offers indoor seating for ticketed guests and convenient, affordable parking.
Due to limited capacity, each Franklin High School graduate is guaranteed five (5) guest tickets. We understand that some families may need fewer tickets while others may wish to request more. To help us assess ticket availability, we ask that you complete this ticket request survey by Friday, February 20th. Your response will provide essential information to determine whether additional tickets can be distributed.
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Diploma Submission Form
Seniors, if you would like something other than your legal name (from Synergy) on your diploma, NOW is the time to let us know! Please fill out this Diploma Submission Form before FEBRUARY 13TH.
