McKinney ISD Election 2026

McKinney ISD residents will vote on five propositions on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

What's in the bond?

Four bond propositions, built from the community's own facility study — and financed with the existing tax rate which is nearly 4 cents lower than it was last year.

McKinney ISD's schools are aging, and McKinney is still growing unevenly. The bond addresses both: it replaces building systems before they fail, upgrades safety and technology, expands career training through a shared facility with Collin College, and builds where the students actually are. Every project traces back to the Long Range Facility Master Plan developed by community members.

All four bond propositions and the VATRE can be financed with the existing tax rate. In August, the district lowered the rate by almost 4 cents. It is important to note that the VATRE and all bond propositions can be financed with the new lower tax rate.

McKinney ISD Tax Rate History

Since 2021-22, McKinney ISD has steadily reduced its total property tax rate from $1.4747 to $1.0664 per $100 of taxable value, a decrease of 40.83 cents, or approximately 27.7%. The district's tax rate has declined over five consecutive years, reflecting a continued commitment to managing taxpayer impact while maintaining investments in student programs, staff, facilities, and district operations. The 2026-27 tax rate of $1.0664 is nearly 4 cents lower than the 2025-26 rate of $1.1043.

McKinney ISD Public Relations, Communications, and Support Services

Founded in 1848 to educate the children of local farmers and small business owners, McKinney schools have been a focal point of our community for over 150 years. Although the world has changed dramatically since McKinney saw its first settlers, the importance of a strong educational system that provides children with skills to be productive citizens in our society is still a priority for our community.

The McKinney Independent School District has a long-standing reputation for educational excellence, and our district is continually recognized at both the state and national levels.

McKinney ISD’s success can be attributed to the leadership of our elected Board of Trustees, the professional educators who work diligently to give every child the best education possible, and the support of our parents and community who value and set high standards for the children of MISD.
