Sunday's Community Meal a minimal waste event! Sunday's Community Meal a minimal waste event!

Through collaborative efforts across campus and with Dining Services, all packaging and dishes used for Sunday's community meal were either certified compostable or recyclable. Sustainability student leaders and volunteers worked as waste monitors during the event, helping guide community members on how to properly sort their waste in the 3 way bins. Student-designed signs helped further direct the flow of materials. And, attendees like you took the time to sort their waste and avoid contaminating our 3-way waste system.

These combined efforts allowed us to divert 215 gallons of waste from the landfill, resulting in only 5 gallons (2.3%) of waste being sent to the landfill.

Congratulations Knox! This is a huge accomplishment!

Thank you for your help, and lets continue to work towards reducing our waste at events and in our daily activities and treating them as a resource!

Summer Farm to Fork Potluck

Last week, volunteers and employees of the Knox Farm gathered to celebrate at the end of Summer Farm to Fork Potluck! This exciting event is a time for those who've contributed to growing delicious produce at the Knox Farm to gather and celebrate the harvest. Many attendees brought delicious dishes with ingredients from the farm, such as miso vegetables, garden stew, salad, and apple cake (all produce from the Knox farm!)

Farm Crew is planning another Fall farm to Fork Potluck for early October. Those who attend volunteer hours before October will be invited. So, come on over to our volunteer hours Mondays and Fridays from 4-5pm!
