Dear Middle School Students and Families,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching, and that means it’s almost time for one of our favorite traditions: Middle School BBQ Day! On May 20th, we plan to celebrate all of our students’ hard work with a day of food, music, indoor and outdoor fun, and student recognitions.

To ensure this event is safe and enjoyable for everyone, participation is an earned privilege. We want to see our students finishing the year strong by demonstrating character and dedication.

To join us in all the fun activities planned for the day, students must meet the following criteria between the beginning of the day of May 11th and the end of the day of May 20th:

  • Behavioral Excellence: Any major referrals will result in an automatic loss of eligibility for this event. Major Referrals include:

    • Physical aggression (i.e shoving, hitting, kicking, punching)

    • Possession and or consumption of a controlled substance (i.e. vape pens (nicotine/THC) alcohol.

    • Indecent exposer (i.e. depantsing)

    • Inappropriate Language (i.e. cursing, racial slurs, aggressive/violent statements)

    • Theft (i.e. taking items from peers or teachers)

    • Harassment (i.e. unwanted behavior/ verbal statements towards peers that is based on gender, race, or other protected classes.

    • Egregious, repeated insubordination/defiance towards staff and students

  • Academic Dedication: Students must have all assignments complete in core and elective courses. We want to ensure students are staying on track for a successful transition to the next grade level! If students have missing assignments, they’ll complete that during one or more of the planned activities, until they complete their work.

  • Attendance Matters: Being present and engaged the days leading to the event is the first step toward success. If absences are necessary, they must be called in and excused.

Staff will share details of the event as we near the date. Thank you for helping our staff ensure a safe and fun event for all.

Best regards,

Your Middle School Team (Vandermark, Lewon, Estevez, Goldsmith, Paul, King, Hergenreder, Waido, Lemons, Schultz, L. Jones, Beck) and administration team (Feeney, N. Jones, McDaniel)

Thank you to all who have turned in their library books thus far. HPS Library has 96.44% of the whole collection accounted for, which is awesome! A quick math equation would suggest we have only 3.56% left to go. Please take a second look around for any books containing that High Plains School barcode. The future generations will thank you for it.

On another note, Scholastic Book Fair will be coming to HPS one final time for the current school year. We will be having a BOGO Summer Book Bash. All full priced books will be buy one get one FREE. The Book Sale will be located outside near the flag pole after school on Tuesday, May 19th from 3:15- 3:45p, Wednesday, May 20th from 3:15- 3:45p. Thursday, May 21st from 3:15- 3:45p & Friday, May 22nd from 11:45a- 12:15p.

Please contact Ms. G (myriah.groover@tsd.org) with any questions book related.

Salvation Army Summer Camp Salvation Army Summer Camp

Send a Child to Summer Camp

High Peak Camp in Estes Park is an overnight residential camp owned and operated by the Salvation Army. Our goal is to utilize nature and the great outdoors as a setting to teach environmental awareness, encourage pro-social behavior, and provide opportunity to every camper for fun and adventure.

The Summer Camp Program at High Peak allows campers to have fun while living in dorms complete with bunk beds and bathrooms with showers. Campers enjoy three delicious meals a day in the dining hall, as well as afternoon and evening snacks.

Campers are placed into small groups according to their age. They share social time and participate in campfire programs comprised of singing songs, storytelling, and watching movies.

Cabin leaders are with the campers 24 hours a day, escorting them to all the fun camp activities including archery, arts & crafts, a climbing wall, disc golf, fishing, foosball, hiking, miniature golf, rock climbing, ropes courses, soccer, volleyball, a water carnival and zip lines.

Our 2026 Summer Camp will be held from June 22nd to 26th. The camp is free for local children ages 7 to 12, and transportation to and from camp will be provided. If you’re interested in sending your child to camp, please contact the Loveland Salvation Army at 970-699-8380. Or, help send a child to camp through a donation at loveland.salvationarmy.org
