TSD Hosts Reading Intervention Professional Development
From October 13–15, Troy School District welcomed WestEd staff developers and intervention coaches from across Michigan and the country for three days of professional learning focused on Reading Apprenticeship for Academic Literacy Learning (RA4ALL), the district’s Tier III reading intervention program for secondary students.
Visiting coaches observed classrooms and provided feedback to Literacy Specialists Sadie Besl at Athens, Morgan Carlson at Troy High, and Jayne Kelly at Baker Middle School. The experience provided valuable opportunities for collaboration and continued improvement of reading instruction and support for our students!
Troy Union Alumni Create Little Library for TU
A group of former Troy Union students recently returned to their old stomping grounds to deliver a special gift! Members of Girl Scout Troop 77926, who began their scouting journey together in second grade and are now sixth graders at Larson and Smith Middle Schools, built and donated a Little Lending Library to their former elementary school.
The girls had a great time reconnecting with Troy Union, presenting the library to Principal Cottone, and filling it with books and handmade bookmarks they created last year.
What a wonderful way to give back to the school where their journey began!
