Fifth Grade Wellness Week
In April, Highland Park's fifth graders participated in Wellness Week. We did activities each day to spell out ROYAL.
Running, Outdoor Obstacle Course, Yoga, Aerobics/Art, and Letter Writing
Fourth Grade: Arbor Day
Our 4th graders have been busy soaking up the sunshine and turning our school grounds into their personal laboratory this month! To celebrate Arbor Day, the kids headed outside with their sketchbooks to study and draw the different types of trees that make our neighborhood so green. We also spent some quality time digging into the school garden, where students acted as "field scientists" by cataloging all the cool plants and busy insects they could find. It’s been a blast watching them discover the tiny ecosystems living right under their feet!
Third Grade: Butterflies
Last week, the third-grade team proudly released their butterflies! Students were filled with excitement as they watched them grow from tiny caterpillars into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. It was an amazing experience to see the full life cycle right before our eyes. Be sure to take a look in the HP garden or around your neighborhood—you just might spot one of our butterflies flying by!
Wawa Reverse Day
Wawa Big Brother/Big Sisters came to Highland Park for Reverse Day. The Littles families, Bigs, and teachers all gathered in the gymnasium to enjoy lunch, meet each other, and share a fun time together. Big shout out to Mrs. Hanna for organizing such an amazing program for some of our HP Royals!
Student Council
In April, the Highland Park Student Council took a walking field trip to the UD Food Bank. Students learned about how the food bank is organized, the volunteers that run it, and all of the areas in UD and surrounding communities that it helps. We are proud to run food drives every year to help this wonderful cause! Special thanks to Mrs. Debbie Miller for inviting us to the food bank and talking to our Student Council, and for all of her amazing work in the community.
ELL: Royal Spirit Day
Royalty visit on Royals Day during Underground Spirit Week!
Jump Rope Contests!
In April, the Jump Rope Contest fun continued in PE. First grade held their grade level competition. We can't wait to see who wins the building level competition in May!!
Spring Concert
Congratulations to Mrs. Cleary, Mr. Geist, and Mr. Morris on another wonderful Highland Park concert. Our third, fourth, and fifth grade Orchestra, Band, Chorus, and HP Singers worked hard to put on an incredible performance for the spring concert: HP Pops!
PBIS Assembly
Student of the Month: Caring
At the beginning of April, we celebrated the March Student of the Month winners! The theme for Student of the Month was Caring! Congratulations to all of our winners!!
