Principal's Message
Good afternoon, Colt Families,
What a fun start to our week at Monday Meet Up! We loved hearing our first graders sing Witches' Brew, and our students certainly enjoyed watching Mr. Bradley and me get wrapped up as mummies! I have to admit, Ms. Cary's mummy was definitely the winner!
We also have some exciting news to celebrate! Our California School Dashboard results are in, and Morning Creek has so much to be proud of! Our school moved from Green to Blue in three state indicators for All Students, reaching the highest performance level on the Dashboard for those measures! We also saw significant growth among our English Learners, along with important progress for our Students with Disabilities in Mathematics.
These results reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the strong partnership we share with our families. While we are proud of this progress, we know there is always more work to do to ensure every Colt continues to learn and grow. Thank you for being part of our success! We invite you to explore Morning Creek's California School Dashboard results and celebrate the progress our Colts are making!
We're looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at Trunk or Treat! Be sure to check out the Foundation section below for all the details.
We have another fun-filled week ahead! As we get ready for our Costume Parade next Thursday, please take a few moments to review the costume guidelines and parade procedures below. We want to make sure everyone knows what to expect so we can enjoy a fun and safe celebration together. We're looking forward to seeing our Colts in costume and welcoming families to join us!
Have a wonderful weekend, Colts!

Fall 2026: Healthy Tech Habits
Teaching students to develop healthy habits with technology is important for their well-being. As we launch this school year, establishing balanced technology routines at home helps set our students up for success both in and out of the classroom.
Small, intentional steps make a big difference:
Designate Screen-Free Zones: Keep mealtime and bedrooms tech-free to protect sleep and encourage family conversation.
Co-Create Family Rules: Work with your children to set consistent daily expectations around screen time and screen-free play.
Model Healthy Boundaries: Show your children how you balance device use with daily life.
Resources for Your Family:
Elementary Resource: Family Media Agreement: K-5 Printable Guide and Screen Time One-pager
Together, we can help our students build a grounded foundation for lifelong, responsible technology use.
HALLOWEEN PARADE
Halloween Costume Guidelines
Halloween is always a fun day at Morning Creek, and we love seeing the creativity our students bring to their costumes. As families begin planning for Halloween, we want to share a few guidelines to help make the day fun, safe, and comfortable for everyone on campus.
When choosing a costume for school, please keep the following in mind:
No Masks: Students’ faces need to remain visible while on campus so they can be easily recognized. Face paint and makeup are welcome alternatives.
Keep Costumes School-Appropriate: Please avoid costumes that include excessive gore, horror, or anything that promotes violence. Weapons or weapon replicas—including swords, guns, or similar items—should remain at home.
Be Culturally Respectful: Costumes should not represent cultures or identities in ways that could be viewed as stereotypical, disrespectful, or offensive. We want Halloween to be a celebration where every student feels comfortable and included.
Leave Noisy Accessories at Home: Please avoid bells, whistles, sirens, electronic devices, or other accessories that may disrupt learning throughout the day.
Remember, It’s Still a School Day: Costumes should follow our regular school dress expectations and allow students to comfortably participate in classroom activities, recess, and other parts of the school day.
For Our Younger Colts: Please choose costumes that your child can manage independently, particularly when using the restroom. Simple costumes that students can easily take on and off make the day much easier for our youngest students.
Thank you for helping us keep Halloween fun and welcoming for all of our Colts. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to seeing the creativity our students bring to campus!
Warmly,
Mrs. Sullens
Principal, Morning Creek Elementary School
Fall Family Picnic
We’re looking forward to welcoming families to campus for our Fall Family Picnic! After your student’s lunch period, students will return to class for the remainder of the school day. To help minimize disruptions to learning, we ask that families not check students out early following the picnic.
If your child does need to leave early for an appointment or other reason, please plan to follow our regular checkout procedure through the front office. With many families on campus that day, the checkout process may take additional time.
Thank you for helping us enjoy this special time together while keeping the rest of our school day focused on learning.
💙2026-2027 Volunteer Updates!
TB Test Clarification
New this year, all volunteers—both new and returning—must have the new TB Risk Assessment form completed and signed by a healthcare provider. Unfortunately, TB forms or test results submitted in previous years cannot be accepted in place of the new form.
If you have had a TB test within the last four years, you may bring documentation of that test along with the new TB Risk Assessment form to your healthcare provider for review and signature.
The required TB Risk Assessment form can be found using the button below.
Thank you for taking care of this important step so we can continue welcoming our wonderful volunteers to campus!
Mandated Reporter Training Clarification
As part of the volunteer application process, all parent volunteers must complete all three required trainings in the JPA Library.
After completing the trainings, please upload the required completion certificate to your volunteer application. Screenshots of the training will not be accepted in place of the certificate.
Completing all three trainings and uploading the correct certificate will help us process your volunteer application as quickly as possible.
Want to volunteer at Morning Creek this school year? We’re excited to welcome our Colt volunteers back! 💙
Before applying, please note these important updates:
📋 New application: All volunteers (new and returning) must complete the 2026–2027 application.
🪪 Photo ID required: Upload a current government-issued photo ID (military ID is not accepted). Your application name must match your ID exactly.
🩺 TB clearance: A completed California School Employee TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire is required.
📚 Level 1 volunteers: AB 1913 training must be completed within 90 days of applying, with the certificate uploaded to your application Visit the JPA Learning Library in your desired browser to access the training..
⏰ Please be patient! Volunteer applications will be processed as our school routines and procedures are established.
We appreciate your patience and support as we get the new school year underway! 💙
