The counselors have completed their meetings with Juniors and Sophomores, and they will meet with Freshman students in their classrooms through the remainder of this quarter. Students will review and continue to build their 4 Year Plans, and we will explore the Naviance program. Now is the time to make sure that their plan for next school year is as up to date as possible.
Every Wednesday during Advisory, your student will have the opportunity to watch a video from the Counseling Department that focuses on a specific topic. Some videos will discuss credit and course options, and others will pertain to monthly awareness events. If your student is absent or is unable to watch during the advisory period, the video can be viewed on our TWHS Video Archive website, posted on the TWHS website and here:
https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-video-archives/home.
Additionally, in the TWHS Video Archives, our "Catch It All in the Fall" video webpage is now live! "Catch It All in the Fall" is an event that allows parents to successfully navigate high school requirements with their students. This year, "Catch It All in the Fall" will be held virtually. You will be able to select instructional videos about various topics that pertain to you. This event will be posted on the TWHS website. Go to Student & Family Resources then School Counseling, then TWHS Video Archives.
Students were invited to attend an informational meeting about Dual Credit for 2026-2027. Current students who have a qualifying SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 score in the appropriate subject area do not need to re-qualify. All other interested students need to make sure they sign up for the SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 test. The TSIA2 test will be given during the school day on November 19th to the first 225 students who pay the $13 fee. This fee has already been added to student's school cash accounts. Any student who isn't able to take the TSIA2 test in November will have the opportunity to test in March, or they can sign up for the Dec 6th SAT or Dec 13th or Feb 4th ACT test.
We know there are many options for tutors in our community. However, we strongly encourage your student to build a relationship with their teacher and seek their guidance when they need assistance or clarification. Our teachers are readily available before or after school for tutoring. In many cases, students also utilize peer tutoring through many of our service organizations. In addition, evening tutorials are available at the Senior Campus. Our staff is always here to help answer questions and address concerns. We also provide a list of tutors, some current or former teachers, on our website. You can also find it here:
CISD provides a wealth of information in our Junior/Senior Handbook. This information is updated each year. Please visit:

Lady Highlander Basketball Kicks Off Season with Service and Strong Wins
The Lady Highlander Basketball program has hit the ground running this season — both on the court and in the community. Before tipping off the year, the program came together for a special food drive and service event, partnering with Meals on Wheels to provide meals for more than 60 local seniors ahead of Thanksgiving.
That same teamwork and energy carried over to the hardwood, where all three teams opened their regular season with dominant wins over Tomball Memorial and Klein High School. Two games, two sweeps — a strong start for the program!
The Freshman and JV squads will compete November 13–15 in the Conroe ISD Tournament. Freshman games will be held at The Woodlands 9th Grade Campus on Thursday and Friday, and at the main campus on Saturday. JV will travel to Grand Oaks for the weekend’s competition.
Varsity will return to action on Tuesday, November 18, facing Cy-Woods High School before heading to Manvel for a tournament to close out the week.
For daily updates, game highlights, and photos, and tournament brackets visit www.ladyhighlanderbasketball.com and follow the team on Instagram @lady_highlander_basketball and on X @LadyHighlanders.
Don’t forget about our upcoming spirit nights! We hope to see you there. Be sure to mention LADY HIGHLANDER BASKETBALL! Thanks for your support!

THE WOODLANDS ART TRUST
Thank you to all the Texas Artists who submitted artwork for consideration into our collection this year. Our student committee met and narrowed the submissions down to 13 pieces that will be voted on by the entire student body in mid-November.
CONGRATULATIONS to MOHAMMAD ALI BHATTI (RICHMOND),
LYNNE BUCHANAN (ARLINGTON), LIZ CONCES SPENCER (HOUSTON) ERIK FAUGHT (CONROE), ROBYN FEEHAN (FRISCO), LYNN KESSEL (GEORGETOWN), TOM LAROCK (THE WOODLANDS), WENDY MORELAND (POINT BLANK), ASIYA NOURETDINOVA (PEARLAND) , ANNETTE PALMER (MAGNOLIA), JENNIFER POLNASZEK (GEORGETOWN), CLAUDIA RODRIGUEZ DIAZ (FULSHEAR), LAURA SPECTOR (HOUSTON)
Posters of their artworks are on view at school and the original pieces were on display in the cafeteria this week. Student voting is winding up and they will purchase as many as possible of the pieces that receive the most votes. We will announce the results by December 1st.
Although the artworks are purchased through funds set aside by Student Council from the Homecoming Dance, the framing, lighting and conservation of these pieces need funding. Consider helping with that funding and show your support for The Woodlands High School Art Trust by joining our "One Hundred Friends of Art." Our goal is to have 100 arts supporters make an annual donation to support our cause. Donations are tax deductible and start as low as $10!! Visit our website to make a contribution: www.twhsat.org
The Woodlands High School Art Trust (TWHSAT) a 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2011 to help maintain, conserve and display the student-selected, student-purchased collection of established artists at The Woodlands High School. The vision for the TWHS Art Trust is to see the art collection grow each year and to have it extend through the hallways of the high school. We also offer FREE tours of our collection to schools and other groups by appointment.
Other than the public sculptures around The Woodlands, this is the ONLY permanent collection of art available to the public. It is seen by THOUSANDS of people every day. Please consider supporting this unique collection that sets us apart from other public high schools and strengthens our goal of being one of the best high schools in the state and country.
For more information on The Woodlands High School Art Trust please visit our website: www.twhsat.org or contact Susan Cosculluela at twhsat@gmail.com
CLINIC NOTES
Let’s Talk About Headaches
This is one of the most common complaints that we see in the clinic. They can be caused by not enough water, poor sleep quality, poor posture, skipping meals, eye strain due to uncorrected vision, stressors such as learning difficulties and/or bullying, or hormone shifts during puberty.
● Primary headaches include migraines and tension headaches, which are caused by a headache condition
● Secondary headaches are caused by acute illness with fever, repeated sinus infections or other underlying conditions. These include sinus headaches, dehydration headaches, and medication overuse headaches (taking headache medication more than three times per week can cause these). Parents are welcome to check medication into the clinic to be given to their child in case of an occasional headache; we do not supply medication to students.
Treatment of headaches depends on the type of headache a person has. Over-the-counter medication can be helpful for occasional tension headaches and there are prescription medications to help manage migraines, but with secondary headaches, the underlying cause needs to be treated, such as increasing fluids, getting more restful sleep, decreasing caffeine use, and reducing stress. Other alternatives to medication include the use of hot or cold packs, doing stretching exercises, massaging the area, or resting in a dark, quiet room.
When should you see a doctor? You should schedule an appointment for daily or recurring headaches, headaches that appear to worsen, needing to take pain medication daily or almost daily, headaches that begin after a blow to the head, or headaches that are accompanied by stiff neck, neck pain, fever, and/or changes in vision.

Family Support Through The Welcome Center
We would like to inform you that the Welcome Center, led by Iytzia Cárdenas, has now been relocated to the Jett Center. However, she continues to visit our campus some days a week, mainly when she has scheduled appointments with families.
🧭 Her Mission: Guiding Families Through a New educational System
If you come across a family who may benefit from a one-on-one meeting with Iytzia to better understand and navigate the school system, please don’t hesitate to refer to them.
Iytzia is committed to:
Providing clear guidance and support
Helping families gradually access the information they need
Ensuring they do not feel overwhelmed or lost
🌍 More Than Just a Language Barrier
We often assume the challenge is only about learning a new language—but in reality, it’s much deeper.
Families arriving from other countries experience:
Culture shock.
Grief and loss from leaving their home country, family , friends , etc.
A complete shift in norms and expectations.
All of this can create confusion and uncertainty as they try to adjust. That’s where cultural and emotional support becomes essential.
👩🏫 Iytzia’s Ongoing Impact
With over 12 years of experience on this campus, Iytzia has played a key role in building strong connections with our families. Due to the growing importance of her work, her role has now been centralized, and she now serves all district schools through the Jett Center.
She identifies newly arrived families and reaches out directly—or sometimes is referred by families like you.
📌 How You Can Help
If you notice a student or family who seems to be struggling with adjustment, please:
Reach out to Iytzia ( 281-220-9527) icardenas@conroeisd.net
Share any relevant information.
Encourage families to connect with her.
Even a small gesture can make a huge difference in helping families feel seen, understood, and supported.
Thank you for being a vital part of this support network. Together, we can continue creating a welcoming and inclusive community environment for everyone.
WORLD LANGUAGES: TWHS offers a multitude of languages, including Japanese, German, French, and Chinese. As students decide which language to choose, there are a few things to keep in mind. Which language will make them stand out to future employers? Please see our monthly newsletter
for more information about who we are and what our languages offer.
