Storytime is back for the school year starting in September! If you have little ones who are looking for fun at the Garbage Garage, Storytime is the class for you. At the beginning of each month, we gather to read a different sustainability story accompanied by crafts and activities that fit each monthly theme!
September will go back to the basics of reusing with What to do with a Box. We’ll use our imaginations to think of all the ways we can use our boxes before recycling them, and then make a boxy craft to take home!
In October we’ll get down in the dirt as we learn about decomposers in the story Pumpkin Jack. We’ll meet some creepy crawly friends and make a seasonal craft all about composting!
We’ll learn about being thankful for our resources in November’s Storytime as we read The Earth Gives More, accompanied by a lesson and craft all about giving back to our Earth.
If you have any questions about our fall Storytime Sessions, please email solidwasteeducation@larimer.org. We can’t wait to have you join us for a fall of fun!

Weekly & Monthly Opportunities to Partner

Tip of the week:
Create a dedicated learning space at home and establish a simple schedule or checklist to help your child stay on track during at-home learning days. Use positive reinforcement to recognize effort and hard work, such as tally marks, sticker charts, or adding cotton balls to a jar. When your child reaches a goal, fills the jar, or earns a set number of stickers, celebrate their accomplishment with a small reward or special activity.
In Google Classroom, selecting “View your work” gives you a quick overview of what is missing for a class, the score your student received, and whether a teacher has left a comment.
