District Tech News

The district Technology Committee spent its fall meetings drafting a new three-year technology plan. The plan presents a vision for expanding our one-to-one device initiative. It also emphasizes using technology to help students personalize their learning and to enhance performance tasks. Mr. Couture, Director of Technology Systems and Programs, presented a review of the plan to the Board of Education on December 12.

In this edition, we feature two tools to support literacy and mathematics . If you would like help using Read & Write for Google Chrome or Equatio in the classroom, please reach out to a member of the EdTech Team. We’re here to help.

Equatio Math Space Breaks the Barriers of Math Going Digital

Equatio allows the user (students and teachers) to easily create mathematical equations. Equatio has introduced a new component called the Equatio Math Space. This new Math Space allows students to represent their math thoughts digitally.

Within this Math Space users can use the tools of Equatio and utilize the Desmos graphing component. Desmos is an online application that enables users to graph functions, plot data, evaluate equations and explore transformations.

All work that is created within this Math Space can easily be shared thru Google Classroom!

Watch the demo video below to view how to use the new Equatio Math Space. Click Here to get started! Sign in using your SWPS Google Apps Log In.
