The Sheiko Weekly Update
Sheiko Elementary: January 31, 2025

PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Dear Sheiko Families,
Happy Friday! By now, you should have received an email with your child’s report card. We are excited to share their progress and celebrate their hard work! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
This week, our students continued with NWEA and WIDA testing, and we are so proud of their focus and effort.
We also have some exciting news—thanks to your support, we sold enough Pistons tickets to earn a free assembly on the last day of school! A special shoutout to Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Bienstock’s class, who are currently in the lead for ticket sales. We’ll announce the winning class next week, and they’ll enjoy a well-deserved hot chocolate party! If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, it’s not too late—check the flyer for the code and join us!
And now for the Big Announcement—tonight is Bingo Night! We can’t wait to see everyone at this fun, PTO-sponsored event at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lucky charms and get ready for a great time!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Gooooooooooooooo Lakers!

BINGO TONIGHT AT SHEIKO!
PLEASE BE AT YOUR CHILD'S BUS STOP
Please be reminded that parents/caregivers are expected to be at the bus stop in the afternoon. If there is not an adult at the bus stop, the child will be brought back to school for parent pick up. If a child is returned to school three or more times, this could result in loss of bus transportation, and we don't want that to happen. In addition, students may not walk to a convenience store, for example, and wait for a parent or caregiver. The bus driver needs to see that the parent/caregiver is present. Thank you for keeping all of our Sheiko Lakers safe!

PBIS PIZZA PARTY WINNERS!
NEWS IN OUR SPECIALS CLASSES
The 3rd-5th graders finished a unit on musical basketball routines. We practiced our knowledge of rhythm notes with songs like "Eye of the Tiger" and "All Shook Up'. We also did the "Martin King Luther Jr. Rap".
The K-2nd graders practiced "Sing About Martin" and continued our unit on parachute dances. We learned about musical form by changing our movement when we hear contrasting sections of music.

CASINO NIGHT
Did you know the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation (WBEF) has provided over $1 million in grant funding to our public school teachers? WBEF has impacted every grade at every school in the district. The WBEF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
West Bloomfield Educational Foundation continues to fund innovative ideas from WBSD teachers in academics, arts, STEM, and mental health. Here are some photos of WBEF grant projects in action at the WBMS iCenter! The more donations we receive, the more teacher grant requests we can fulfill. More info at https://www.wbef.org/
BAGEL MONEY HARD AT WORK!
Our profits from our bagel sales earned us classroom subscriptions to Scholastic News for everyone in the whole school! This is a great resource, tailored for each grade level, to support our nonfiction reading units and current events. Please be sure to ask your child about it!
