This month, we are highlighting the DaVinci Student Success Team (SST). The team is comprised of Kristen Steinberg, Alica Brekkestran, Dean Anders Lundahl, and Assistant Principal Trish Harvey. We partner with classroom teachers to support students facing behavioral challenges, helping create positive learning environments where every child can thrive. When students need a moment to regroup, our Options room provides a safe, supportive space for breaks and for working through a problem. Our experienced team brings both professional expertise and genuine compassion to our work, because we truly care about each student's success and well-being. We are here to ensure that every child feels supported, understood, and ready to learn.

🏃 BoosterThon is Coming! 🎉

Join the PTO public meeting on September 29 at 4:30 PM in Ms. Severson’s room (#304) to hear all about this year’s exciting BoosterThon!

📢 The BoosterThon kicks off on September 30 and is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support projects such as expanding Arts and Science integration with more project-based learning opportunities and continuing to grow our Outdoor Learning Center, among others. More details to come!

Every bit of participation—big or small—helps make a huge impact for our students and teachers. Let’s do this, DaVinci! 💪✨

Hello DaVinci Families,

It has been wonderful to meet your students, or see them again, as we are so happy to be back and supporting them while they are at school. As we continue to settle into our new routines, I want to take a moment to share some health and safety reminders for this year.

Health Forms and Medications

  • Please ensure that all health forms, including immunization records and medication authorization forms, are up to date and submitted to the Health Office as soon as possible if you haven’t already.

    • We have reached out to families with students who have previously reported health conditions; however, if you have not reported your student’s health conditions, then we are not aware of them, leaving room for your child's wellness and safety to be jeopardized.

    • We will also start contacting families who have students that do not have up-to-date immunization records. Remember that per the Minnesota Department of Health, all school-aged children must be immunized or provide documentation of conscientious objection or medical exemption.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Please share your child’s Emergency Action Plan with us if they have a condition that requires one if you have not already done so. This is for our students with allergies requiring an EpiPen, asthma requiring inhalers, and other medical conditions that may need emergency management at school.

Preventive Health Measures

  • To keep our school community healthy:

    • Encourage frequent handwashing and proper hygiene.

    • Keep your child home if they are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of illness.

    • Remember that students need to be vomit, diarrhea, and fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school.

Thank you for your cooperation in making our school safe and healthy. Here’s to continuing with an already fantastic school year!

All my best,

Cassie Johnson, RN
