Changes you might see...
I want to take a moment to share some important updates about our school’s learning goals this year. As a Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) school, we are committed to setting strong goals to help all students grow and succeed academically. This means we are focusing on increasing learning through targeted strategies that meet the diverse needs of our students.
One key way we are doing this is through differentiation—a teaching approach that helps us meet students where they are in their learning journey. Every child learns differently, and differentiation allows teachers to adjust instruction, materials, and support to ensure that all students can reach their full potential. Research shows that when instruction is tailored to students’ individual strengths and areas of need, they are more engaged and make greater progress.
To help students strengthen their skills, we have also begun interventions in math and reading. These interventions are designed to support students who may need extra practice or different strategies to grasp key concepts. It is important to note that receiving intervention does not mean a child has a learning disability. Instead, it is a proactive approach to ensure that all students have the skills they need to succeed. These interventions may happen inside or outside of the classroom with another staff member.
This is a learning process and a change for both students and staff. As we continue implementing these strategies, students may experience new ways of learning, and teachers are working hard to adjust instruction to best meet student needs. Change takes time, and we appreciate your support as we navigate this journey together.
The science behind differentiation and targeted interventions is clear: when students receive instruction at their level, with the right support and challenges, they grow at a faster rate. We are excited to see how these strategies will help all of our students achieve their goals this year!
As always, we appreciate your partnership in your child's education. If you have any questions about our school goals, interventions, or differentiation strategies, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your support!

Happy Spring!
For our Accelerated Reader program this year, I am selecting “AR Stars of the Month.” These will be either the student in each grade earning the most points for the month or a student who has made significant improvement. They will be posted in the hallway outside the Library. February’s AR Stars are: Kinley - 2nd, Madden - 3rd, Kaylee - 4th, Macy - 5th, and Braxton - 6th. Way to read!
A reminder also of our 100 AR Points Field Trip that places in May - students will have until the end of April or shortly after to make it to 100 points. The field trip will be to the YMCA and lunch in Minot. We currently have 6 students who’ve earned it!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Elementary Book Blast event! Many of our students earned participation prizes, and all students grades PreK-6 will receive at least two books from all the donations that came in. Some students even earned all ten books for their grade level thanks to the donations received. Participation prizes and the books should arrive before spring break!
In February, Elementary Library grades PreK-1did a mixture of read alouds, yoga, and crafts. Elementary Library for grades 2-6 finished up with Digital Citizenship and robots. Some of our 4th-6th grade students even put together a few new mBot Neo robots! In March, all Library classes will be learning about and visiting the Book Fair.
The Bookmobile will be here on Tuesday, March 11th. Please help remind students to return Bookmobile items if they haven’t already. Thank you!
March is Reading Month, and our theme this year is “Just Keep Reading!” A calendar of events will be shared and sent home so everyone can remember and participate. We have several dress-up days, guest readers, a BINGO challenge, and other activities lined up throughout the month. We will have a fun wrap-up event with activities to end the month. Please help your child(ren) complete the BINGO challenge, as needed. Students who complete their BINGO card will earn a reward.
Book Fair will be held March 11th - March 28th. Flyers with examples of books available and other information will be coming home with students in grades PreK-6. Purchases from the Book Fair help our Library, as 30-40% of sales come back to the Library to purchase books through Scholastic.
Due to the Book Fair being set up, there will NOT be LEGO Club from March 11th - March 27th. We will resume on Tuesday, April 1st - no joke. :)
