EVERY CHILD. EVERY DAY.
Stay in the know...
💙 M-Step testing is winding down for many grades. Please communicate the names of students who have not finished up in third or fourth grade. Also, please let me know the plan to ensure they finish.
💛 As our end-of-year testing takes place, please remember that the adults in the building are the thermostat. Let's keep the temperature low and create a calm, loving environment for our students. While we want students to do their best, a test does not define all there is to our students. A relaxed student is able to think more clearly and is more confident.
💙 Thank you to everyone that helped or visited during our very first Science and Culture Night. It was a wonderful event with a great turnout. This is an exciting addition to our yearly programs that help create a strong partnership with families.
💛 Don't forget that students will eat in the classrooms on May 17th because of the Art Show and Book Bonanza that will take place at 4:00 pm that day.

Classroom Climate and Culture Coach--C4!
Melanie Wolf will join our SJPS staff in the fall as our new Elementary Classroom Climate & Culture Coach. Melanie joins our team from Berrien RESA, specifically Lighthouse Education Center, where she has served as a special education teacher of students with severe emotional impairments, autism, and learning disabilities and is currently in a behavior specialist position.
Melanie will join Jess, Joe, myself, and other stakeholders in hiring our three student support paraprofessionals this spring. Though we are eager to build this team, they will begin their new roles in the fall. We look forward to sharing more great news with you following those decisions.
Welcome, Melanie! She will be an integral teammate to help us to support students.
💙 REAL TALK ABOUT OUR CHROMEBOOKS 💛
- Chromebooks are NOT to go home unless there is an illness or homework assignment from the teacher that requires the Chromebook; we do not have replacement computers for students who leave their computers at home!
- Name labels and barcodes are essential; if you have students with missing barcodes, please make a list of names so that new labels can be affixed ASAP. We do not want this to be a rush at the end of the year.
- Chromebooks should NOT be decorated by students with stickers.
- Food and drinks should be away from computers.

Jessica, Melaina, and the Special Ed Para Team--Thank you for the heart you give our little bunnies. They feel so loved and safe with you. You are all powerful advocates for their success and have made such an impact in their lives. Working alongside you is something that makes me want to come to school every day.--Tessa
