Assessment Resources
Student Achievement, Life Skills, & Well-Being
Overview
As described in the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Dynamic Plan, our goal is to "provide a complete educational experience that is relevant and rigorous and meets the academic needs of all students." Assessing students' strengths and needs is part of the education process here at P-CCS that will help us to meet this goal.
Students at P-CCS participate in assessments of student achievement, life skills, and well-being. The purposes of NWEA, the state tests, and the student surveys are not for grading. These tools provide more information that will help improve outcomes for all students. This year P-CCS students may participate in the state assessment system, NWEA MAP Growth, Dynamic Indicators of Beginning Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS), and the Panorama student surveys.
Click on the links at the end of this newsletter for more information about these assessments.
Note: The NWEA, DIBELS, and Panorama windows may be adjusted within the year to account for school weather closing or other factors.

Assessment Purposes
High-quality assessments are designed for specific purposes. One single assessment can’t give students, families, teachers, and school leaders all of the information that they need to find out what a student knows or to find out how to best support them. We use information collected in many different ways throughout the year to support students in their learning journey. This might include classroom observations, teacher/student interactions, individual student work, assignments, checkpoints, quizzes, projects, performances, unit tests, placement tests, benchmark assessments, and/or exams. Some of these types of assessments may contribute to a student's grade.
