Ball Python Talk (4 & 5 Year Old Classes)

This month, our 4 and 5 Year Old Classes had an exciting opportunity to attend a special talk about ball pythons! The children were fascinated as they learned all about these gentle and unique snakes, including their habitat, diet, and how they protect themselves in the wild. Our guest speaker brought along a real ball python, and the students were thrilled to see it up close! They asked thoughtful questions, showed great curiosity, and even had the chance to gently touch the snake under close supervision. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that sparked curiosity about the natural world and left our young learners buzzing with excitement!

Art and Mini Exhibition (3 Year Old Classes)

Our 3 Year Old Classes recently hosted their IBPYP Art and Mini Exhibition, where parents joined their children to celebrate their learning during the unit How We Express Ourselves. The event showcased the incredible creativity and imagination of our young artists, with a vibrant display of their artwork created throughout the unit. Families enjoyed watching delightful performances, exploring hands-on activities, and even collaborating with their little ones to create art together. It was inspiring to see the children demonstrate key IB Learner Profile attributes, such as being open-minded as they explored new ways to express themselves, communicators as they shared their ideas and artwork, and risk-takers as they performed with confidence in front of an audience. The event was a joyful celebration of self-expression, creativity, and community!

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony

Our kindergarten graduation ceremony was a beautiful and memorable celebration, and we were so grateful that the rain held off, allowing the event to go ahead without interruption! Families gathered to watch as our graduates proudly received their certificates, their faces beaming with excitement and pride. The children sang heartfelt songs, shared reflections on their kindergarten journey, and showcased the incredible growth they’ve achieved this year. Throughout the ceremony, it was evident how much they’ve embodied the IB PYP Learner Profile attributes—being inquirers as they explored new ideas, thinkers as they tackled challenges, communicators as they expressed themselves so confidently, and caring as they supported and celebrated one another. It was a touching moment to see how much they’ve grown, not just academically, but also as principled, open-minded, and balanced individuals. The ceremony was filled with smiles, applause, and a few happy tears as we celebrated this important milestone and wished our graduates all the best in their next big adventure!

Water Parties

To celebrate the arrival of summer, all of our classes had the most exciting water parties filled with laughter and joy! The children had a blast splashing around in paddling pools, cooling off under the summer sun (and sometimes rain!), and giggling as they playfully sprayed and splashed each other. The highlight for the older children was an epic water balloon fight, where everyone joined in the fun, showing teamwork, and a great sense of humor. It was wonderful to see the children having such a great time as they enjoyed active play and being risk-takers as they jumped into the water-filled excitement. The water parties were the perfect way to kick off summer, leaving everyone with big smiles and unforgettable memories!

My First Step at Kingston - Ms Freda Kwok (Chinese Head Teacher of Children’s Centre)

I still vividly remember that sunny day in 1996. My steps halted in front of 113 Waterloo Road, drawn by a banner hanging on the outer wall. It was vibrantly colored, adorned with irregular geometric patterns, and bore the slogan "The First Step Makes The Difference" in a lively, friendly font. The overall design exuded a joyful atmosphere. In the bottom right corner of the banner, a pair of blue infant shoes seemed to softly invite passersby to follow their tiny footsteps and enter this vibrant campus to experience its unique ambiance. But what truly captured my attention was the ingeniously designed school emblem on the banner; it radiated a fresh, hopeful charm that filled me with curiosity and imagination about the school:

Unexpectedly, just two years later, I had the opportunity to personally step into this school that had left such a strong impression on me. As I walked onto the campus, the familiar bright colors and unique geometric patterns from the outer wall instantly caught my eye. They were no longer static images on a flat banner but surrounded me in three dimensions, a joyful atmosphere washing over me. Being there felt like entering another vast sky. Every child there exuded an active eagerness to learn: they thought diligently and enjoyed exploring ways to solve problems; they were full of curiosity and actively asked their own questions; they were brave in trying new things, fearlessly challenging their own limits. Even more surprisingly, these young children already demonstrated excellent communication skills, fluently conversing in both English and Putonghua. All of this filled me with immense surprise; the beautiful vision once printed on that banner was now so real, so three-dimensional, and so tangible before my eyes.

It was this shock and emotion, brought about by personal experience, that made me make a wish deep in my heart: I sincerely hoped that every parent and child who stepped into the Kingston campus, whether for their first visit or their day-to-day learning life, would have one unforgettable experience after another. I hoped that here, they would not only acquire knowledge but also develop the abilities to think independently, explore actively, innovate bravely, and communicate effectively, making Kingston a starting point for their continuous growth and breakthroughs in life.

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, I have spent a full twenty-seven years in the loving and vibrant Kingston family. Looking back on the past, every little detail has become a cherished memory. Now, as you read this introduction from a focus teacher, imbued with my deep affection, it also signifies the successful conclusion of this academic year. This reluctance to part is mixed with infinite anticipation for the future. Let us look forward with great excitement, together welcoming a brand new term, embarking on new learning journeys, and warmly welcoming every new face about to join the Kingston family! May we work hand in hand to write a new chapter for Kingston!
