KRS Community - Students, Parents and KRS Staff,

Before Ellery (2G) entered Kindergarten, all I ever heard from many of you was about the magic that was Kings Road School. The moment she set foot into her Kindergarten classroom, we found out exactly what you were talking about.

Today I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your unending magic and generosity always, but especially this holiday season. The contributions that you all made to the Thanksgiving Basket Fundraiser, benefitting Health Start Clinic at Overlook Medical Center, added up to nothing short of a miracle.

In my 6th year chairing this campaign, the clinic's director and lead social worker told me several times that this was an especially difficult year for so many mothers and children at the clinic. Once she told me of some of the hardships that these women and children have been facing, I set our goal higher than ever and this community helped in a major way to EXCEED THAT GOAL!

The expression "a little bit goes a long way" is incredibly true and something I hope you remind your children of heading into the holiday season. When you have kindness in your heart and do small things with great love, you can have an impact on someone's life that is far greater than you can imagine. A few gravy packets here, some mac and cheese boxes there....Together, with the contributions from the KRS community, we were in total able to feed and support 272 families this holiday season. Families who quite literally, without you, would not be guaranteed a meal at all on Thursday or might have to forego breakfast the next day.

I have already heard from the clinic director and staff that any mother they call to come pick up a basket cries tears of joy just to have the weight of a few days worth of food off their shoulders. With tears in my own eyes, I thank you, wishing there were stronger words in the dictionary to express my gratitude for the impact that the Kings Road community had on our extended community this Thanksgiving.

I wish you all a very happy holiday season and I hope it is a little bit brighter for each of you knowing the incredibly positive impact you had on the lives of hundreds of children in our area.
