As we enter the month of February, I would like to highlight a few activities that took place in January--

• Students who demonstrated exceptional dedication and success with their academics for the 1st semester were recognized and celebrated during the Academic Awards Ceremonies.
• Students who met their 2nd quarter AR goal enjoyed Donuts.
• 5th graders took a study trip to the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
• Many Tatarian families and students enjoyed FAMILY NIGHT at FRESNO STATE Men's BASKETBALL GAME.
• Last week, 5th and 6th grade music students participated in Tatarian's Winter Music Concert.
• In our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, our students enjoyed our Asian Awareness Assembly on Friday. This assembly celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Asia through dance and music. THANK YOU to our PTA for sponsoring the assembly and facilitating making the art projects for the Dragon that is displayed in the cafeteria.

Tatarian Students will have the opportunity to participate in Fresno State Peach Blossom on March 6 OR March 7. Fresno State Peach Blossom Festival has welcomed children from all across the Valley to share their oral interpretations of poetry and literature at Fresno State. This year Mrs. Baker is our Peach Blossom Coach!

THANK YOU to all our families for making a smooth transition to a "Closed Campus". Because of your support the majority of our students are in their classroom ready to learn before the TARDY BELL (2nd morning bell).

As Ms. Lisa is welcoming our students who are arriving late, after the double blue gate is closed at 8:25, the office can be very busy and I appreciate your patience as Ms. Sheila checks you in to volunteer in your child's classroom.

Attending school everyday is crucial for our students to contribute to both their academic success and personal development! Here are a few important facts highlighting the importance of consistent school attendance:

• Time Management- Being on time helps our student learn learn how to manage their time effectively and balance their studies in the classroom.
• Positive Interaction with Peers- Tatarian provides a social environment where students can interact with peers, learn teamwork, and develop communication skills. Regular attendance allows students to form and maintain friendships which will enhance their social development.

Independent study is an educational option offered to students who are unable to attend their regularly scheduled class for a short duration. Student may receive a STIS contract for a minimum of 3 school days to a maximum 14 school days. To allow for approval and to prepare work for the student, the office and classroom teacher needs to be notified at least 1 week prior to receiving the STIS. For more information refer to Board Policy~ B.P.6158

The criteria to participate in STIS are:

· Vacation

· Family Emergency

· Medical

· Out of state / country travel
