Celebrating Our IHS IB Class of '24
August 2024
The Inderkum IB Graduates of 2024 learned their IB course grades in July, and now they have their actual IB Diplomas and Certificates. This is our ninth cohort, and we have many reasons to be proud of them! 132 students completed all the requirements for at least one IB Diploma Programme course. That includes 21 IB Diploma Candidates (names italicized) who took all their classes at the IB DP level plus completed extra requirements. Ninety percent of that group succeeded in earning their diplomas.
We had our biggest group ever to sit for the IB English exams, and they maintained a 94% passing rate. (2020 and 2021 had more English students, but exams were canceled due to Covid-19.) IB History continues to be popular, and the 2024s earned the highest average score we've seen for the course. After several years of requests, we were able to start IB Computer Science, and the first students to complete it did respectably well. Our alumni are now beginning their next steps. They were accepted everywhere from military service to community colleges, most of the CSUs, all of the UCs, many out-of-state campuses, and private universities such as Emory, UPenn and Stanford.
I realize the names may be hard to read. Don't forget that you can zoom in on your screen.
While we had several outstanding nominees, Kate Rodriguez was chosen as Inderkum's DP Student of the Year for her outstanding scholastic achievements and her contributions to the community, both near and far. Funds for her award came from the California Association of IB World Schools (CAWS).
Our very own (and amazing!) Inderkum IB Committee was able to present $5,000 of scholarships to thirteen students. We're so appreciative of their efforts to support and celebrate our students, and the program wouldn't be the same without events such as the Back to School BBQ and the subsidized college tours.
Seniors complete a survey for me yearly. Most gave permission to share their next destination. Finally, even though each can only enroll in one, the list of 132 colleges, universities and programs where they were accepted is quite impressive and will give you a sense of Tigers' aspirations!
Once again, don't forget that you can zoom in on your screen.
