Bell Schedule this week: BCD
There is no school on Monday. It is the last three days of the Semester - the class periods on B, C, and D days are longer, so some teachers will use these days for final exams, project presentations, or other end of the semester activities. On Thursday, we will have an assembly to end the day. There will be a space provided for students that have work to finish up before the semester deadline and need every last minute, in a classroom, away from the distraction of the assembly. There is no school for students on Friday, January 23rd.
A short but busy week
There are so many events this week! In classes, projects are due, presentations are being made, tests are being taken, field trips are tripping, and it is time for kids to turn in any and all missing work. There is a lot happening after school too, so please make sure you ask your Cub if there is stuff going on they are a part of...I had plenty of, "Oh! Mom! I forgot. I have a concert tonight!" moments when my kids were younger. (Or a track meet, or a test, or they needed a tri-fold poster at 9:00 p.m.) I apologize in advance if you have any of those parenting moments this week. I'll do my best to keep you informed. 😀
Spirit Days
To celebrate reaching the half-way mark, our Student Council asked if they could plan some Spirit Days. It is hard for me to say no to these kids sometimes! So...
Tuesday - Pajama Day
Wednesday - Decades Day
6th Grade: Dress like the 60's
7th Grade: Dress like the 70's
8th Grade: Dress like the 80's
Staff: Dress like the 90's
Thursday - Rodeo vs Rodeo Drive
Haiti Night
And now...a message from our kids:
Hello Parents/Guardians, Our 7th period World Cultures class has thought of an event that will help the rising healthcare problem in Haiti. It is called Haiti night, it starts at 5:00 and ends at 7:00 at the Moscow High School. The activities that will take place are bracelet making, a notecard game, soccer, bingo, and more! After 30 minutes of going around and having fun, we will be showing Moana. Admission is $3 for kids 10 and under, over 10 is $5. We really hope you decide to join us for this event our students spent quite some time on! Sincerely, The World Cultures Class
Parent Support Team Meeting
Happy 2026 MMS Families!!
3 quick things coming up next week! Read below for info on our January meeting, our staff appreciation lunch, and ways to donate some bucks to support the PST!
PST meeting! Featured Speaker: Brian Smith, Community Schools Coordinator
Wednesday Jan 21 at 5:30 in MMS library
This terrific program funds so many awesome things -- free clothing, school supplies, tutoring programs and more! The federal funding was abruptly canceled in mid-December but was restored in the 11th hour thanks in part to MSD parents speaking up -- thanks to all who called, emailed or just sent good vibes! Come to the PST meeting to hear more about how this grant helps our kids, community, and schools.
SignUp! -- the PST is providing a catered lunch for our teachers on Friday, Jan 23 and we'd like to add some fruit, desserts, and snacks to restock their lounge with yummy treats. Click here to help out! SignUp Genius
Donate! We haven't held a fundraiser since the Teacher's Lounge project in Fall 2024 and our coffers are dropping! Even with generous discounts from our local restaurants it costs nearly $1,000 to provide lunch for all the teachers and staff at MMS. If you're able to make a donation to help us continue to offer this support you have several options -- thank you!!
- Zelle -- our account is under our email (pstmms@gmail.com)
- Venmo -- send it to our Treasurer (@Jennifer-Hohenlohe) and label with MMS PST
- Check/Cash -- Make checks out to MMS PST and drop at the MMS office
- Stay tuned! -- we're working on fundraising efforts with local restaurants in the spring and will get those dates out to you once they're booked!
Thanks all!
the friendly folks on the PST board
Drama Class Performance
Our amazing Drama Class students are proud to present, "Twice Upon a Time" on Thursday, January 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Middle School MPR. They have been working so hard! I sometimes sneak a peek at their rehearsals 😁. The Drama class teacher, Ms. Bird, always has the kids prepared to perform at their best. Please join us for a fun night to celebrate their hard work.
Engineering Day
There are only a few slots left, so sign up now if you are interested in this great opportunity!
Up, Up, and Away
Eighth graders in Mr. Hudelson and Ms. Sell's Physical Science classes built and set aloft their paper air balloons last week. Go Cubs!
Cubs for the win!
The Unite! event was a huge success. Our band students played their hearts out with Ms. Yenne leading both the High School and Middle School student Pep Band, our Cub Cheer Team was amazing, our students were there to REPRESENT! Once again, our Cubs donated more canned goods and other food items than MHS, and we brought the trophy back to MMS. The real winners were our kids and the community food banks, so thank you for your donations. Go Cubs!!
Sharing the World
Some of the 7th grade students from Mr. Haley and Mr. Albrecht's Social Studies classes shared their book projects with our local Elementary school students. The younger students learned a lot, and our Cubs did too!
Spelling Bee
Due to some just announced changes to the National Spelling Bee schedule, we have had to hustle to change our school Spelling Bee date. We will have the here at MMS in the library on January 28th. Students that will represent their classrooms will compete to attend the regional Spelling Bee. Let the studying begin!
