Parent and family engagement is an essential part of education. At OES, we know it takes many caring adults in a child’s life to help them reach their full potential.

Having lived in the Irish Capital for the past ten years, I continue to be inspired by the way our community members care for one another. Every day I see vans and cars filled with students being picked up, dropped off, or given rides to practices and events by families who aren’t always their own. That spirit of cooperation shows what it means to truly be a community.

As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. We at O’Neill Elementary School are honored to be part of that village, and we sincerely thank our families for partnering with us to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn and grow.

Inside our school, we work hard to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful for every student who walks through our doors. We want all children to feel valued, supported, and cared for each day. Just as importantly, we want families to know they are welcome collaborators in the educational journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas throughout the school year.

You may also wonder how you can support learning at home. While homework is important and always appreciated, many activities outside of school can be just as valuable. Reading a book together, practicing flash cards, playing strategy or dice games, and other fun family activities can build math, reading, and problem-solving skills in ways that don’t feel like “school work.” These small moments make a big difference!

Finally, I invite all of you to get involved in any way you can helping children. Maybe volunteer to help with the Junior Eagle Boosters, help with Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, or coach a sports team. Come to our Family Reading and Math Nights. I guarantee you won't regret it!

Thank you for working alongside us to nurture and educate the most valuable resource we share—our children. We are deeply grateful for the parents, caregivers, and community members of O’Neill.

Mr. Jim York

Principal, O’Neill Elementary School

Please remember that students are expected to be off campus by 3:45 pm, unless they are here for another school-related activities.
Please call the office if your child is sick or will not be in attendance. This helps us keep more accurate track of excused and unexcused absences.
Promptness is important! Please make sure your child is IN SCHOOL by 8:00 every morning. Tardiness makes the day difficult for all those involved.
If your contact information changes, please inform the office. This will make it easier for us to contact you should we need to.
Please remember if you need to come into the building during pick up/drop off time, you need to park in one of the parking lots. Also, if you are not handicapped, please do not pick students up in the handicapped parking spot.
Breakfast starts at 7:40 and we will close the line at 7:55.

So, you’re going to the upcoming sporting event with your family and want to enjoy the game. Please remember we are expected to do things the “Eagle Way” at all times. Here are some great reminders about what that looks like:

Be Safe-Stay in the designated areas. Children stay with their parent/guardians. Walk in common areas, as these areas are busy and full of people.
Be Respectful-Remember there are a lot of people there to cheer for the Eagles (and probably some visitors cheering for the opponent). Fans want to watch the game & watch a fair game. Cheer for the team, don’t berate officials, players, or coaches.
Be Responsible-Leave your area as clean as it was when you came. Clean up your mess!
