Welcome back!

Whether you've been participating in our program for years or this is your first, WELCOME! All our parent educators are thrilled to be back for another wonderful year of home visiting. Be sure to check your email, missed calls, and texts as our parent educators start reaching out to schedule home visits! As always, thank you for continued support of our program.

Home Visiting 101 Home Visiting 101

As we begin our home visits, a couple reminders to keep our home visitors safe, as well as provide a quality home visit:

  • Limit distractions: turn off tv's, iPads, etc.
  • Put pets in another room or outside (weather permitting).
  • If anyone smokes in the home, please refrain from doing so while the parent educator is present.
  • Let your parent educator know if anyone else will be in the home during the visit.
  • If you've moved, let us know so we don't go to the wrong home :)
  • If you prefer not to meet in your home, your parent educator can arrange for a community location (i.e. the library), or at our Legacy Park Location (where PAT is housed).

Parents as Teachers Annual Requirements Parents as Teachers Annual Requirements

There are certain requirements our program must meet every year in order to receive funding from the state, as well as stay in compliance with the Department of Education and Parents as Teachers National Center. While I am sure they seem redundant, the following are required to be updated annually:

  • Enrollment
  • Health Records
  • Participation Agreements
  • DESE Data Sharing Agreement
  • Developmental Screenings

Should you have any questions about the aforementioned requirements, please don't hesitate to ask!

Developmental Screenings Developmental Screenings

As mentioned above, our program provides annual FREE developmental screenings for all children ages 3 months-5 years (pre-k). Below is a breakdown of how we do these screenings, as well as a link to sign your child up for a DIAL screening at Great Beginnings-Legacy (3-5 years).

ASQ: This developmental screening tool is intended for children 3 months-2 years, 11 months. This screening is only completed in the home by a certified parent educator. It covers four areas of development: language, cognitive, motor (fine and gross), and social-emotional (ASQ-SE). This screening changes as children grow, so a screening completed at six months will look different at 12 months. Ask your parent educator for more information.

DIAL: This developmental screening tool is intended for children 3 years-5 years 11 months. This screening can be completed in the home (you must be enrolled in the PAT program for this option) or at our Legacy Park location. ANY child living within the LSR7 district boundaries that meets the age requirements is eligible for a developmental screening at our GBEEC-Legacy location, regardless if you are participating in our program.

All participating families and/or families living within LSR7 district boundaries with a child aged 3 years-5 years 11 months can sign-up for a DIAL screening using the link below. If you have a parent educator, please discuss with them at your next home visit which option would be best for your family (screening in the home or screening at GBEEC).

DIAL screenings completed at GBEEC-Legacy Park include:

  • A free developmental screening (cognitive, language, motor)
  • A free social-emotional screening (ASQ-SE)
  • A free vision screening
  • A free speech screening
